I just pulled an all-nighter studying my ass off and then took an online FINAL exam from 2am to 5am. INSANE. I'm bouncing off the walls from my aderol-caffeine induced euphoria. I'm gonna watch the sun come up... but it's only 5:35 and the sun won't come up til 7:14, the weather channel said........... WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Please share an interesting all-nighter story.

I only ever pulled one actual, honest to goodness all nighter in the name of scholarly endeavors: for a final project (like, for the whole year final) in religion class. While I wasn't as--well, unhinged as you sound there =P , I definitely felt a bit detached from myself through that whole day, until I finally caught a few winks.

Go figure, the one time at college my roomie and I decide not to sleep is the first night before our first final. We were just so jazzed we couldn't sleep, so we're like "let's just stay up!" so we did, and about 5 or so in the morning I get tired and go to bed, and then later my roommate goes to bed. The next morning, the idea of not going to bed was... not as attractive as it had been.

I think the craziest time I did an "all nighter" (so to speak) was when my friends and I had a FMA marathon. We watched every episode of FMA from the early evening one night, until about 9 or 10 am the day after. Only two of us lasted the entire night, but by the time we got to about 4 or 5 in the morning, we were getting quite loopy and laughing at absolutely nothing. It was great. (I blame the Vault for the crazy.)

I've got a lot of all-nighter and multiple-day stories (insomnia FTW), best time for academic reasons though was last year, my last year of high school when 5 days before a report on Communist China was due I hadn't even started. Stayed up for 2 days straight finishing it and then stayed up until the class I handed it in to, to see if I could. By the class I was just sitting there giggling at everything anyone said or did and having mild visual hallucinations(shadows moving mainly).

Got an incredible score on that report though, the class average was 45%, second highest score was 74%, I got 96%. One of the few times I put real effort into something in highschool.

My being a LAN addict, I pull nighters like other people go out and get themselves shitfaced. A regular LAN begins around 5 pm, and ends around 2 pm the next day. The longest LAN without sleep was about 3 days, 4 pm on day one until 10 am two days later... the last few hours were fueled with caffeine and anything that somehow contains sugar, to keep the giddyness factor up.

Staying up the whole night vor academic purposes.... pfff, my sleep's way too important!

One time I stayed up all night at my friend's house and played Prince of Persia and Metal Gear Solid.

At the same time.

Like, we had two TVs, one with the PS2, one with a GameCube, and PoP was on the PS2, and MGS: Twin Snakes on the GCN, and me holding one controller in each hand.

It was made especially difficult by the fact that I was on the last jumping puzzle in PoP.

This is so pathetic, but me and my friends were sleeping over at my house for my birthday a few years ago and we were watching Blair Witch Project at around 1 AM with all of the lights out. The movie was so boring until it got to the very end. Right when that girl fell down at the very end, I was like "HOLY SHIT! AHHH!!!"

So, for 15 minutes we were all shaking and really nervous when we see the front door lock starting to turn open. Needless to say, we were scared shitless seeing as how we weren't able to prepare for what would happen once the door opened (stupidly thinking that there actually was a damn witch opening the door.)

Anyway, it was my freaking brother who usually comes home from partying late in the night. After that, we TRIED to sleep, but we were all too scared. And besides the fact that my friends kept talking about doing shit to the first person to sleep.

I know, Blair Witch started all of this! Like I said, really pathetic..

Sir Pinkleton is so pumped up.
Default I have two storyies to tell...

...One is an actual story, and another is some random fact a friend told me.

The only true all-nighter I had was when I had just transferred from cubscouts to boyscouts. We joined troop 721 (I think) and one guy there planned a LAN party at his house as celebration. it was starcraft, but I think the majority of it was of a custom game made to mirror the story line of FF7. I had grape soda and muffins. I actually didn't realize it was the next day when I was picked up to be brought home.

Now, my best friend told me once that there was an expirement testing to see how long someone could stand being awake. Water and food were provided. after 5 days the guy started to go insane, with each passing day going more insane (seeing stuff that isn't there and the such). After about 15 days the body finally couldn't cope with being so overworked and the man died. Now, I realize that any such expirementation would never happen in today's society, but it's still interesting to think about.

If you're pulling an all-nighter, and you're really really tired, just getting to the point of where you can't possibly stay awake anymore...

...That's when you bust out the strobe light and AIM Radio, Techno channel, and have that rave!

If you stay awake too long, your body experiences symptoms similar to inebriation, meaning, you behave as if you were drunk. After that, just stupor, you sit or stand and everything feels funny, you miss points of conversation, you wonder if the couch really feels nice and snuggly. After that - well, usually you fall asleep in that phase, so I guess it just gets worse and worse.
