Anime Movie or Not
Do you think turning anime into a real live performed movie with hollywood stars is a good idea.

Way to have opinion laced in the options of your poll. That's not a biased skew or anything.
I can't say I'm a fan of live-action versions of movies, series, and shorts that I've come to love in animated form. I also can't say I like this poll, though.

There's only one thing I have to say about the idea of Live-Action Anime: The Dragonball Z Live Action movie (sorry, I don't know the official title). From what I've heard it's better than Metropolis.

No. For more reasons than I can put up.
But two I will. 1) American companies (including multiple Hollywood renouned companies) are already invading the Anime market and not only licencing and selling them, but actually PRODUCING them. 2) Almost everyone who works in the animation buisness knows that doing an animated film or series is totally different than a live action one. So I'm not up for one trying to combine (or overtake as it appears with some hollywood companies) one of the other markets. That's the shorthand of it. There's so much more to it.

Anime has a special touch that if it was turned into a real movie, it would lose that 'special touch'. So no, keep anime, anime.

Actually, you want to see a "live action anime" done well?
Check out Shaolin Soccer. It's a blast. And done well. Though it's not anime.. just watch it and you'll see what I mean.

I've been keeping tabs on the progress of the DBZ live-action movie. I kind of like everyone casted, especially Vegeta, but they could've found a better actor for Piccolo. Four four-hour-long movies?! I predict they will end up like the Pokemon movies: everyone will be interested in the first one and they will never go see another one.
So far I've only heard rumors of an Evangelion movie, but it's only hearsay. But what I've heard scares me. -Hillary Duff as Asuka -That kid from Harry Potter as Shinji *shutter*

Is any of that information regarding the DBZ movie confirmed? I thought it was all still rumor. Everything I can find suggests that there is no confirmed information regarding the film.
Hmm, so Daniel Radcliffe as Shinji, eh? Doesn't seem too bad a pick as he's certainly a good actor, has the right build, and is of the right age. But that also feels like the kind of casting fan sites tend to do. The real obvious pick, being a star and all. Kind of like the rumor that Robin Williams was going to be Doc Oc. At any rate I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with making a film out of an anime. No more so than from a book or a play or a Western animation. It's just that one has to realize that it a live action movie is so very different than an animation. The live action move can not be the anime. It must instead be a good live action movie. Still, there are concepts in anime that could be reworked into a good live action movie. As long as one doesn't expect them to be the same. PS. I wanted to add that the process of making a good live action movie out of an animated movie is not easy. There are so many ways it can go wrong. Much like making a live action movie from a comic or book. Though in the case of animation probably even more so, especially since there's not really as much to gain by doing the conversion. That is, a live action movie doesn't really bring all that much new to the table as opposed to the animation. Still, it can work. I'd like to see a live action version of the Record of Lodoss War OAV. At least then we'd get more than the occasional scene that's fully animated.
