Dragon Ball : Evolution - The Trailer

I cant stop laughing! Im trying, dear god im trying but the tears wont stop and the laughter wont stop either!!!!

It's Actually Dragonballesque! And it contains Kamehame-ha

Green Piccolo, Wire-Foo, Capsules, Dragonballs and i cant tell if this is the worst use of an IP ever or if they actually managed to pull a decent Dragonball movie here!!

Is this the denial or bargaining stage? I'm not quite sure.

im pretty sure im shaken between blind fanboyism and denial...

But the only thing i could think seeing this is that "It was better than anything i was hopping for... and if it didnt say "Dragonball" on the cover, it would be a decent lookin action flick!"

Masked Jedi will become famous soon enough. Eventually. Maybe.

Yes, but because it says Dragonball, it is more than a decent looking action flick. That title gives it expectations that this trailer is not delivering on. And I'm Mr. Optomistic.

It looks like it's worth a shot. I loved MK2 so I'll probably be in my glory with this one no matter how hard it sucks. At least they made the capsule part look awesome.

Decent action movie? Really? 'Cause as someone who's never seen any Dragonball anime, that trailer just looks really dumb to me, and if I didn't know what it was based on, I'd have lumped it in with movies like Ultraviolet.

Huh.

They actually managed to make Dragon Ball even worse.

Bravo, Hollywood. Bravo.

I can already tell Grandpa Gohan will be the only redeeming feature of this film.

What's sad is that this movie is the product of the writers strike. Not knowing how long it would last, Fox needed a blockbuster action flick with bankable name recognition, and realized they owned the rights to Dragon Ball. They needed to bang a script out in the few weeks prior to the strike, so they hired this guy...

...whose writing credits include The Big Hit and Love and a Bullet. Then Fox gave it a $100 million budget and sent the crew down to Mexico to bang out a film by August 2008. Once the strike ended, Fox realized they didn't need it this year, and delayed it till Spring 2009 so that at the very least the FX team would have enough to time polish the turd.

Had the writers strike never occurred, there would be no Dragon Ball movie and we would all be happy.

and now, thanks to the current trend of Anime/Games/comic movies we all can expect these in 2009

- Thundercats
- Robocop
- Johnny Quest
- Centurions
- Castlevania
- Gi Joe (already confirmed as y'all know)

I was laughing at the trailer on the fact that they seemed to do exactly what i would expect to see from a Dragonball Movie with REAL actors .... it's just too surreal to be taken seriously.

But they managed to make a SPEED RACER MOVIE done by the guys who did MATRIX and eveyrbody was "oh... ok, that's not terrible"... so at least with this trailer im getting that vibe

The ultimate joke is that it can actually make enough money to spawn a sequel and THAT would be.... something.

Goku was all like "I'm not ready for this". Which is like a complete opposite of his characterisation. Goku flies at stuff, fights them till he dies, comes back to life, goes and fights them again till he wins. He loves fighting.
Maybe they have turned him emo.
