"Exorcism Is Alive And Well..."
So there's this new movie coming out called The Last Exorcism. It looks like a documentary-style flick about the practice of exorcism.
Or it would be, but it seems like it's being produced by Eli Roth, who also produced Hostel, Death Proof and Cabin Fever. So yeah, this one'll probably have some gore in it. Now, some people have tried a different take on the original horror-exorcism movies. This, I think, looks interesting... Worth a look, at any rate. They'll probably throw in a lot of anecdotal evidence and hear-say while focusing on the documentary part of it, much like The Omen remake did with their "Truth Behind 666" bit. So it's probably worth a look. |

On The Omen DVD, the one with Julia Stiles and Liev Schrieber, (I think that's how you spell his name) the have this sort of mini-documentary thing in the Special Features menu.

Which tells me approximately nothing.

Blair Witch Project combined with the plot (and like, actual ripped-off elements) of the Exorcist. Color me not interested.
It also had the odd tagline of "if you believe in God...you must believe in the Devil!" despite there being like several major religions that have God but not the Devil, including lots of Chrstian denominations...I know taglines are often ridiculous and contradictory but this one seems kind of removed from reality and doesn't even have much of a pun in it. |

You'd be surprised how many people can't conceive of one without the other.

If God had a face, what would it look like and would you wanna see, if seeing meant that you would have to believe...?
I accept that you exist. I don't have to accept what you are, but you're physical existence, I give you that." It's like black and white, good and evil. A lot of people have the idea that one cannot exist without the other, one's existence causes the other. Like light and shadow. |

Obviously the dichotomy idea of the universe is as old as Zoroastrianism but it doesn't change the fact that some people don't believe in both so that a person MUST believe makes it a silly tagline.
The only interesting thing this movie is doing is that at points it seems like the crazy-ass demon-infested chick picks up the camera herself and flies around with it pointing at the action while gibbering evilly. |
