I'm Going To Watch The Rocky Horror Picture Show Tonight
So I've got a bunch of friends who loved this flick, and as I've always been kind of curious about their apparently collective mental state, I put it off. I never understood how Tim Curry in drag made for great cinema, or for that matter, any male actor in drag.
And apparently it's a musical? I don't know. I knew it was big in New York - there was a theatre that did a midnight showing of it every Friday at midnight when I was in Manhattan, so, there's that. Last edited by Seil; 09-16-2010 at 07:52 PM. |

It's...well, it's an experience. There's a cult following who will respond to the musical in a variety of ways and will attend it dressed as characters or just plain messed up. The one time I've seen it, there was a dude and none of us were sure if he was wearing anything more than a trench coat.
Are you watching the film version or actually going to go see it on stage? Stage version is decent but I have no urge to see it more than once and the film version, though I haven't seen it all, seems like much of the same expect without the audience input and better settings. |

I've watched most of this movie, it was kind of...something something (humorous, I guess?), but I'm not sure why it is so wildly popular other than that it used to be the greatest example of pop counterculture but has probably been one-upped on that count a million times since...

Are they doing audience participation?! Every time you hear the name Janet you HAVE to shout slut at the top of your lungs. There is so much for you to learn for this movie.

But it hasn't aired yet so I can't show the full clip. Plus, Oswald in drag.

Yeah, I remember that episode of Drew Carey. It is true that Rocky Horror Picture Show is probably a million times better than Queen of the Desert which I've never heard of.
