Secondary motive there. I really needed the slaves to dig up a massive tomb residing under the old capital city.
Without getting into too much detail the macguffins we are looking for are basically these pillars that hold up the metaphysical walls between the planes.
So we can ya know, destroy them and leech off their power. Since each pillar contains literally an infinite amount of raw power my party could literally become omnipotent gods by absorbing just the energy from
one pillar.
Unfortunately, there are safety mechanisms in place that prevent such a thing and cause the other pillars to pick up the slack of lost pillars. Even just one pillar can do the job of all of them.
So basically instead of destroying one and maybe wrecking one or two planes we have to destroy all creation. There are 8 pillars and we destroyed 5 of them.
One of them happened to be buried under about a mile of bedrock beneath a heavily fortified castle-town, so I proposed the best course of action was to invade the kingdom, enslave the population, and then have
them dig up the tomb so we can go look for the others.
In the end, we basically enslaved the population of the whole land and built a town too.
Some people took offense I think.
