Without getting into too much detail the macguffins we are looking for are basically these pillars that hold up the metaphysical walls between the planes. So we can ya know, destroy them and leech off their power. Since each pillar contains literally an infinite amount of raw power my party could literally become omnipotent gods by absorbing just the energy from one pillar. Unfortunately, there are safety mechanisms in place that prevent such a thing and cause the other pillars to pick up the slack of lost pillars. Even just one pillar can do the job of all of them. So basically instead of destroying one and maybe wrecking one or two planes we have to destroy all creation. There are 8 pillars and we destroyed 5 of them. One of them happened to be buried under about a mile of bedrock beneath a heavily fortified castle-town, so I proposed the best course of action was to invade the kingdom, enslave the population, and then have them dig up the tomb so we can go look for the others. In the end, we basically enslaved the population of the whole land and built a town too. Some people took offense I think.

Man, that is such a smart plan. This is why I enjoy being evil, you get to pretty much have free reign over what you do.
It looks like your going for a high risk, high reward scenario for your power there. I'm curious to hear what happens next though cause this is really an enjoyable thing to envision!

Well, we do know what happens when we destroy a pillar. Things like general warping of reality, beings from other planes "fall" through into ours, and random mutation of people near the affected areas are all effects we have seen.
All these things eventually right themselves, reality will stop warping, outsiders will stop falling into our plane, and people will stop randomly spurting arms where their ear used to be. However, each time it takes longer for the effects to subside, probably due to their being less and less pillars to distribute the weight over, and while our goal is to destroy all of them, I am interested to see what happens when there is only one left. The ones we have left are (1) The one under the bedrock (Which we are saving for last), (2) one at an unknown location on an island curiously "Isle of Madmen," and (3) one below a monastery full of many, many, many clerics, paladins, and even monks. We're working on that last one, and I am hoping to manipulate the other adventurer party into destroying the pillar on the island, cause fuck if I am going on a dark uncharted and unknown island called the "Isle of Madmen."

Do they know that your smashing said pillars? cause if they do convincing them to smash one themselves may be difficult
Alternatly you could get them to go their first by placing false information about you already being there so they could deal with the madmen first and then going yourself and destroying the pillar after they had done all the heavy lifting. Also Madmen can be convinced if you're skilled enough. We convinced a large group of madmen and barbarians to attack a city for us so we could sneak in the back while everyone was dealing with the madmen and then spread a disease to wipe out the city so we could claim the crown that happened to also be a prison for a demon we would then release in another city to lure their ruling wizard council out of hiding so we could kill them.

A few things:
We aren't very sure why the isle is thusly named, so better safe than sorry. The adventurer party still thinks I was a NPC and am dead. As far as me or my party knows there is no one left alive that even knows about the pillars other than us. The Pillars are a pretty well kept secret, for very obvious reasons. There was a shadowy organization of Wizards that protected them, but we killed all their leaders. (Bombs planted at clandestine meeting locations are not cowardly.) So they haven't really bothered us in a while. We aren't sure if the monastery knows about the pillar's functions.

I hope you get a pretty good revenge on the rogue/illusionist planned for being the one to actually kill you. Regardless of whether the death really mattered you should still do something extreme to him so no one else gets the idea to try to kill you in the future.
