I propose that someone tried to pour water out truoght the bottom of the ship they came with.

About that sleepwalking magic, in my opinion, you would at the very least be limited to a rage like status effect where you can't controll your actions. Or it can be as simple as the mp slowly regenerating while you sleep and even if you sleep, mp will go down if used.

Actually, at least in Dawn of Souls version, Tiamat was referenced as female.

But when BM killed Suh'zanne and told the other cultists he stepped out, they said he would die if he did that. That is evidence that the cultists may be aquatics, but their bodies can't handle the pressure of bottom of the ocean travel.
