Well, I think we decided that Security does not necessarily equal Tactical, so mostly you'd have your own office or something. Probably by the brig. You could run drills and stuff like that when we aren't in immediate danger, as well as engage in training exercises with the rest of your staff, in which case you'd still more or less have the martial arts master/teacher role.

My major concern is that, especially with the current mood of Starfleet since the war as well as the plot I have in store, I'm not sure if I'm comfortable dealing with the idea of children aboard the ship, which would negate the need for a teacher.

Note that I plan to use a Vulcan, since a Vulcan Counselor both makes no sense, and fits perfectly. But, unless I can get away with "Did all that normal Vulcan stuff then joined Federation" as a backstory, I need to look up what Vulcans do for living.

I have updated my character's bio. Hopefully this is more suitable. XD

Honestly, you probably could get away with it as my own character's profile is pretty sparse for backstory. Still, I'm sure there's at least a good explanation for the existence of a Vulcan Counselor in there somewhere.

Well, he'd give good, logical advise. Plus the whole mind melding thing. Depressed? Erase the depressing memories.

Hmm, well, if Bosolai fixes his character, he can have the helm and I can be Ops, since I haven't really thought of anything definitively yet.

He could bend time and space to his will? How?

Also, what would be a better age / position? I'm going for someone who is competent despite his youth, so if he could keep his age but just be doing field study while in Star Fleet Academy or something, I'd like that. If just playing a young character is an issue in and of itself, then I'll need to think up someone else.

Wesley was apparently some "next step" in human evolution with the potential for powers similar to those of The Traveler, whom he decided to study under in the last season of TNG.

Anyway, using someone like Wesley as a reference, it seems that 18 is pretty much the standard age for entering the Academy. Wesley himself missed the entry deadline and ended up having to head to the Academy at 19. Nog was also 18 when he entered the Academy.

NAME: Patrick James O'Connor
DESIRED RANK: Lieutenant-Commander
POSITION: Senior Tactical Officer
SPECIES: Terran
AGE: 36
APPEARANCE: A tall, broad-shouldered man with a robust physique. Distinguished by close-cropped brown hair, bright green eyes, a lop-sided grin (off-duty), and, when shirtless (rarely) by a number of scars traceable to the Dominion War. Also easily distinguished by his accented English.
BIO: Born to a family of professionals in southern Ireland, Patrick (Paddy) O'Connor was never expected to take the plunge and join Starfleet. For a time, he didn't, but by his early twenties he had grown bored with work in his family's firm, and quit for the Academy's command-track training and a life spent space-side. At the Academy he was highly recommended for his ability to quickly read a 4-dimensional battlefield and anticipate the development of an engagement.

He was commissioned as a junior lieutenant upon graduating the Academy's training program: due to his instructor's recommendations, he was assigned to a recently commissioned Akira-class vessel, the USS Argos. He rose from his original commission to a full lieutenant by the beginning of the Dominion War. The outbreak of war saw the Argos repurposed for frontline duty, where it served in the Seventh Fleet in a variety of battle-groups and operations before falling prey to the first deployment of the Breen's energy weapons, at which time it was abandoned by the crew and presumably destroyed or salvaged by the victorious Dominion forces.

Lieutenant O'Connor was recommissioned to a new ship: another Akira-class, the USS-Juno, where he served out the rest of the war. Aboard the Juno, he came closest to death: part of the bridge superstructure collapsed after a near direct hit from a Dominion torpedo. With most of the senior bridge crew killed or incapacitated, it was left to O'Connor to take command. Under cover of several other Alliance vessels, the Juno withdrew to safety, and limped back to a forward operating post for preliminary repairs. At that time O'Connor, suffering from a number of injuries received during the battle, was pulled from active duty and sent to a Starfleet medical centre to recover.

By the time he was ready to resume active duty, the Dominion War was over. The USS Juno was repaired and refitted in drydock, and was assigned to patrol the occupied territories at war's end. By 2379, he had achieved all the prerequisites for promotion to the rank of lieutenant-commander: given the lack of room for advancement on the Juno, he put in for a transfer, and came aboard the Tokomak a freshly commissioned lieutenant-commander. He has served aboard since.

Lieutenant-Commander O'Connor has received several citations for service to Starfleet and the Federation (many won during the Dominion War), and is widely regarded among those officers who have served with him as a very promising candidate for an eventual captaincy. For now, though, the lieutenant-commander seems content with his work as a tactical officer.

He is currently unmarried, and seems happy to be a rover amongst the stars. He has had a number of relationships during his years in Starfleet, but none of them have ever become particularly serious.

PERSONALITY: O'Connor is a reserved figure when on-duty. He is wont to express a dry wit when faced with troubling situations, and is highly competent and aggressive when faced with a challenge. He does not hold back his opinion on matters pertaining to the survival of the ship, but has no trouble following his superior's orders.

Off-duty, he is a different figure. He is relaxed, and a smile never seems far from his face. Jokes, stories and songs are passions of his, and he is known to perform some song requests ('So long as they're Irish'). He has never been a discipline problem, but anyone who raises his temper will find themselves invited to the holodeck for a friendly boxing match. Repeat offenders are infrequent.

Really? 18? He looked awful young...

I was going of Wesley Crusher's character for an archetype however, so how about 18 and on the Tohamak as early field training thanks to Daddy's help?
