Star Trek RP Interest/Sign-up Thread
USS TOKAMAK (NCC-27545) Ambassador-Class Starship, United Federation of Planets "A man may die, nations may rise and fall, but an idea lives on." Launched in 2350, the Federation Starship Tokamak has served Starfleet for three decades, and is currently among the oldest vessels still in service. Currently under the command of Captain Maxwell Morgan, the Tokamak has narrowly escaped the fate of decommissioning primarily as a result of large losses to the Federation Starfleet during several recent conflicts, namely the encounter with the Borg Collective at the Battle of Sector 001, the Second Federation-Klingon War, and the Dominion War. With peace restored to the Alpha Quadrant and the fleet rebuilding over the past five years, it seems that the Tokamak is nearing her final days. Dispatched out of Starbase 188 several days ago, the Tokamak and her crew have been assigned the very exciting mission of investigating a spacial anomaly! Preliminary data from the Starfleet Office of Science Operations (SOSO) hint toward the possibility of it being a nascent proto-wormhole. A couple days of various scans should go by pretty smoothly until a more appropriately outfitted science vessel can arrive to look into the anomaly with greater detail. Then again, this sector -is- awfully close to the territory of an old Federation enemy long since heard from.... Yes, I've decided to give this idea a go. I did some Trek RP stuff a few years back and it was pretty fun, and I've worked up a pretty neat plot that seems pretty interesting. Essentially, it will work believably within the series universe without just coming down to a bunch of boring technobabble, involving dimension-hopping, epic space battles, and zany villains. The year is 2380. The Dominion War has been over for five years, people have had two years to stop caring about the homecoming of the USS Voyager, but the travesty that was Nemesis still brings back bad memories even a year later. The forces of the Alpha and Beta Quadrants are still rebuilding from their wartime losses, and not a peep from the Gamma Quadrant has been heard all this time. The last big news was Reginald Barclay having a case of space sickness all over a Terellian ambassador a couple months back. Yep, it's back to boring old normal for the Federation. I'm hoping to maintain a small group of players for this, as an RP like this would be incredibly difficult with all sorts of characters running around trying to find things to do. It should not only be easier on me but on the group as a whole, I hope. The role of Captain Morgan will be a NPC, and I myself will be taking the position of First Officer, an Andorian named Resz (it really isn't pronounced the way it's spelled, but I don't know how to begin explaining how to pronounce it, either). Other than that, all other positions are open to players. Senior officer roles would be preferred, though this has no bearing on rank. Even an ensign can be chief of something, after all. Also, non-Starfleet personnel will be allowed on a limited basis (cooks, bartenders, family members of crewmen, etc.). All positions are first come, first serve. Races are open as far as Federation members are concerned. That's a long list to work with, but admittedly excludes a lot of the cooler races. If you're really set on playing a Klingon/Ferengi/Cardassian/whatever, contact me over PM or AIM and we'll see what we can do. If you've got a really damn good explanation as to why they're wearing the uniform, I may go ahead and approve it. The ship we'll be using is Ambassador-class, the same as the Enterprise-C from the TNG episode "Yesterday's Enterprise". It looks like this: That's all the information I can give for now. Feel free to just indicate interest and maybe declare a role you're interested in. I'll put up a bio template when I figure one out. APPROVED CHARACTERS Commander Mo'Vaht Resz, Executive Officer - POS Industries Lieutenant (JG) Patrick Carrigan, Medical Assistant - Mintaro Lieutenant Ihran Entreri, Assistant Engineer - TheBlindMime Lieutenant Sevok Rozhen, Chief of Science - Sithdarth Hirako Lai, Passenger - Elminster_Amaur Lt Cmdr Patrick O'Connor, Senior Tactical Officer - Barahad Cadet Timmy Malacoy, Flight Controller - Bosolai Lieutenant Talek, Ship's Counselor - IHateMakingNames Lt Cmdr Faren Adami, Operations Manager - Jeneralissimo MCPO Elle Vanar, Chief Engineer - The Kneumatic Pnight Lieutenant (JG) Keris Ando, Security Chief - Tyrazial Ian O'Toole, Starship Operations Inspector - Ugainius

I call engineer, bitches.
Short, simple, and to the point. I may or may not also be a "Neelix".

I'd be interested in a Cook/Bartender position, something that would work as a periodical thing. I really wouldn't want to be main crew, I don't have the time, but I really don't want a Star Trek RP opportunity to pass me by.

Good, good.
Also, none of you have ever encountered the Borg and lived. Just wanted to throw that in there.

I doubt you are allowing sentient holograms like the Doctor or androids like Data.

Not really, no. I mean, they're cool, but there aren't any useful Soongian androids out there (which were the only decent androids in the Federation), and the odds of something like the EMH coming online for any extended period are slim.

Colour me interested. Seems like there might still be need for a tactical officer. Likely a human character.

Here is a question though; How good have replacement limbs gotten at this point. I mean the federation has had some time to study borg tech so I assume prosthetics are good enough to make someone function. I want me a space age peg leg!

...this is going to demonstrate my complete nerdiness, but:
Star Trek: DS9. The Ferengi Nog loses his leg in the Dominion War and gets fitted with a perfectly functioning mechanical replacement. He continues to serve on DS9/The Defiant at the end of the series, even with his artificial leg. Additional note: Captain Picard has had an artificial heart since his early days as a commissioned officer (or is it a cadet?), and only gets it replaced once in the series (after having it for 30-odd years). So I would suggest that the Star Trek universe has pretty advanced replacement limbs available. Not that this is my call.
