Official E3 '05 Guest Comic Week Thread
Talk about this week's guest comics in this threat and not in, like, other threads.
Some guidelines: Be courteous. Kind of a given, but I figured it couldn't hurt. I appreciate that you guys enjoy my comics. I put a lot of hard work into each one (even the crappy ones!). The various artists for this week's batch of comics worked just as hard. And some of them probably worked even harder 'cause they had to crank out their entry in addition to maintaining their own comic schedules. If you don't like a particular guest comic, don't be a jerk about it. Don't make other threads for guest comics. This is the big bad official sumbitch. The only exception is if a mod decides to close this thread due to length or their own INFALLIBLE discretion and makes a new one. Don't whine about how yours wasn't picked even though was 8,000% funnier. A team of comic experts only partly consisting of my cats helped pick out this week's winners. I tried to include as many as I could, but there's only so many days in a week. And despite that, I still managed to cram 8 comics into this guest week. With all that out of the way...discuss!

Besides Fighter looking like my cousin and White Mage bearing an uncanny resemblance to my aunt before the operation, I thought today's comic was very well-drawn. However, I would throw a little constructive criticism at some of the dialogue. I would imagine WM saying something a little more morbid and threatening than that. But, that's just me.
It was otherwise hi-larious.

There's something kinda sorta a little Frank Miller-y about the linework, especially White Mage and her face -- love it. White Mage. Deadly little White Mage.

I think the comic truely caught the inner essence of BM.
I'm kind of wondering how Fighter is dying though considering that BM has said time and time again that no matter what he does Fighter just won't die. |

I liked it.
I don't much care for the poofy hair on White Mage but Black Mage was perfect. |

Very good start in the week. Black Mage sure knows how to kill two birds with one stone. And Fighter doesn't have his reputation as meat shield for nothing. That's what I call "able to take a lot of damage."
Great art, too. It almost looks like stills from a cartoon in places. Hint hint. And I like the subtle touches in it, such as "+ 1" and BM's claws... hehe. |

I agree. BM's claws are great! My favorite, though, is the look on Fighter's face. Poor, hapless meat shield.

Not too keen on White Mage's face, yet I love how her cloak is drawn here (it looks like she is wearing the red-and-white hooded cloak over a simpler white robe, which is nice), especially the cowl and how the red border of the cloak is not a series of triangles like in the 8-bit sprites but resembles a spray of red. I can imagine Black Mage fantasising that it is blood. Ever-fresh blood, no less.
I also like Black Mage's claws and his eyes in the last frame. Fighter suffers well.

Well, White Mage didn't look very... White Mage-y, but other than that, perfect.

Not bad as a guest comic. White Mage's face bothered me too, as did the way the text was set up. The first time I read through it, I got confused at to what text went where. (Most text goes below the corresponding panel, not above it.)
Fighter and Black Mage were done well, though. I also like the way this isn't some pointless :fighter: blarg i am dead thing; the whole thing about the heart isn't there right from the beginning, along with how Fighter has lasted long enough for Black Mage to wrap up the heart, locate White Mage, and present it to her, a la Itchy and Scratchy. Also, very cool hilt, and outfits in general are neat-looking, particularly White Mage's. (I'm not gay! I swear!)Yeah! 300 posts! Eat it! Overall, it makes me want to check out the website sometime.
