The images where nothing from the 8-bit cast, and when I tried opening the "T" file, it would give me multiple error messages. Are you sure you sent me the right files? I opened it with Visual Basic 6 Pro, just for reference.

Ok, now that I've played the game, I feel obligated to give some feedback.
The game is pretty fun, but far from being complete. Rounds do not end, since they never announce the winner, which is still able to roam around and keep kicking it's opponents ass. The player that gets hit first is invalidated for the rest of the round. Also, there's no blocking. Lastly, I'm not completly sure of this, but it appears as some moves performed freeze the game. Not all is bad, however. Like I said, the game is pretty fun. The characters, before commencing each round say something, taken directly from the comic, and some of them even interact (Black Mage vs. Fighter, White Mage vs. Black Mage, and so on). The gauge doesn't take too long to charge, and it's somewhat "SNK" oldschool style (you have to duck to charge the gauge). Some characters even charge faster than others. Once it's done, you can perform one of three diferent special moves. These come in, again, three diferent levels. It's easy though, level one attacks can be performed burning one third of the bar, level two will burn two thirds, and finally, level three wil burn the whole thing. For example, as the pictures above describe, Black Mage can do the Hadoken move. He can also (weridly), throw a bannana peel. I have no clue why, but it's still cool. Fighter has (what apopears to be), his "Two-Fisted-Monkey-Style Attack", and "Medoken". The list goes one with every character, though I wasn't able to figure out all the character's moves. I look foward to see the finished proyect. Do please continue the good work.

Rather than an evil mage, why not ARACHNA-DUDE?

i cant help you yet, thats the only subject i didn't learn for VB... But maybe you could save it as an EXE file(from the file menu). But if your going to use a new program... i am sorry but you will possibly need to write those lines all overagain, but, you might not need 2600 if you use C++, more like 2000. Have you tried using JAVA? That might be easier... But anyway that game looks cool and one question... do you know how to make sounds in VB... I could use that info for an ad i was doing for a company, not the Beep noise like any sound file.

Unfortunately, no. I still haven't figured out how to input sound. I don't know how to use C++ or Java, though I do plan to learn how, like I already said.
Btw, BlackMage shoots out a lightning bolt, not a banana peel. I guess I'm going to have to change that... Oh right, one more thing. It sounds like I gave an earlier version. No blocking? That doesn't sound right. Er... one last thing I forgot to mention in the game, you don't hold down left and right to move. You just tap it and the character moves. Walking backwards should be an automatic block... though some moves are unblockable (i.e., White Mage's hammer, Thief's stealing ability, etc). Edit: No!!! No!!! No!!! It's gone!!! I knew I forgot something when I rebooted my computer!!! I've got to figure out a better way to organize the pics. -_-; Neways... I'll probably stop the project until I finish learning java and/or c++. |
