It's just kind of sad that Chrono Trigger's sequel of Chrono Cross had explanations for the mysterious untied ends that would have made a great sequel had their story writers not been outdone by fanfiction.
Thank god the soundtrack and gameplay was pretty. Not much else that I could say about Square at this point.

Well I don't see them doing badly this year, I've already got the FFIV remake and FFTA2 on reserve. And those are 40 dollar games for the DS! So this year has a good chance for them to fix their financial situation I would hope.

Before making this thead I had actually forgotten about Sigma Harmonica, which looks to be the last cool, interesting thing we'll see from Square for a while if this is anything to go by. |

This should be less "Damn Square for not making anything new and interesting" and more "Damn gamers for not buying anything new and interesting."
This isn't Square saying that they don't like making non-mainstream products. It's Square saying that, they, as a company, can not, by any means, afford to make products that will not sell well or to take risks anymore, because those products which they made outside of their mainstream franchises in the past few years have not sold well.

Looks like Square aren't sure what they should do. I got an idea, scale down. I bet if they tuned down the production values of their games by 99.9% the profits would only shrink by 99%, effectively multiplying tenfold, while allowing for interesting games that don't have to sell to the lowest possible denominator. Of course then they'd only see profits in the four or five digit range instead of eight or nine, and that probably doesn't impress stockholders as much, so they'd have to show some courage.
