Swordchuck Form
Hello, I am a juggler/dancer and martial arts enthusiast.
I was spinning weights on tethers the other day in Maori poi form and I realized that not only could I also hold escrima sticks in my hands while juggling without compromise for form or function but I could also attach the tethers to the tips of the base and I immediately thought of Sword Chuck as it was described in a joke and signed up for the forums. I am 100% positive this can work as a functioning martial art similar to adapted double Shaolin 9 section whip form. The finished product would be a 1' straight sword attached to a 4-9" chain and then another straight sword. The question is, just because I CAN doesn't mean I should, but if people want to see it then I'd consider it as fanservice. Thoughts? Last edited by Hanuman; 11-21-2008 at 02:05 AM. |

I say do it... But unsharpened. I'd hate for someone to lose a limb or otherwise be injured just for my entertainment.

...But that takes all the fun out of it.

The least I'm going to do is play around with the idea more and hook up a functioning ratio, then I might use some long padded metal weights to practice with. I've spin metal maces before with good results so this should only be a little more difficult.
If I get good enough feedback I might do some youtube videos or work with NP admin to make something for the forum and try and teach the physics of it or do an actual performance. It's all in the air right now, please contribute feedback. |

...Killjoys.
Also: To add actual substance to this post, I highly doubt the admin here will directly work with you on this due to the aforementioned lawsuit thing. I mean, at least not until/unless you get good enough at it and are doing it on your own. The law is built specifically to ruin all of our fun. However--things like doing a live performance or it's own website or whatever else you were thinking of could/would probably be organized with no/minimal input from administrators (at least from their roles as such). Things like that are usually handled by the community at large with little to no input from the administration. Like our wiki (I no longer have the url) that Mir... Dante Must Die runs. The only things the administration did was create silly/stupid pages, like any other users would.

I don't expect admin help unless a large amount of positive feedback is issued, so right now I'm waiting on how much people actually want this to happen, If i wanted a direct answer from admin I'd either post it in a more notable area or PM directly, but your thoughts on the issue are greatly appreciated. Please contribute input =] Last edited by Hanuman; 11-20-2008 at 06:19 AM. |

Hey if you think you can do go for it, I'd love to see sword chucks in action.

That'd be completely epic, and I'd love to see it on youTube once I get un-deployed. =D

Do it! Heck, I'll help with medical bills if it goes horribly wrong!
