Fair enough. Moving on... There was this SRGP I played when I was a youngin' called Eternal Eyes or some such. I liked it pretty good back then, but I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to make more monsters, which was a hell of a liability.

I have that game and it's INCREDIBLY frustrating, especially when you make a new game, because you keep your level and lose all your stats. Aside from that, the enemy AI is frustratingly competent to the point of being cheap, and if you lose one of your own monsters, you have to make a brand new one that always ends up weak as shit, which can make later levels prohibitively hard as the enemy keeps killing your party until you run out of jewels. THEN you don't get nearly enough jewels to start with, so you generally end up with a kitten-weak party even to begin with, and the evolution system often leaves you with a monster worse than what you started with.

It's overall a very thrown-together product that I can only recommend if you like being annoyed and frustrated.

when I was a kid, this game unholy war was one of my favorites. i recently found it again, and upon replaying it is a below average strategy game with a decent gimmick. I hate when that happens

I remember Unholy War. It was a rental that I found to be rediculously fun, but as it wasn't a straight-up RPG (And I discovered Star Ocean the week after), it was a one-time rental that always nags at my head to be included in lists.

Hey now, Mystic Quest was awesome. It actually had dangerous monsters :P

I have both. I'd say yes for the first, only it really needs a SEQUEL more than a remake. I know the story got resolved, but it's the systems that really made that game, and for all I care, they could come up with a totally new cast, or better yet, go all the way into the past and have you play out the Dragon Campaign with Zieg and Rose and everyone. I'd buy the HELL out of that.

I was just reminded by watching the Ubisoft press conference. Get Rayman, it was a fun 2d platformer back in the day. Though I only played the first one.
