Yeah, he's always been one of those baby-faced types.

Anyway, as an older vessel I could see the Tokamak being used for cadet training, and having a high ranking father pulling some strings would be a good explanation for a first year cadet being assigned to starship duty.

Also, Barahad is approved, though both he and Mintaro are using the same first name. I don't have a problem with it if you guys don't.

We'll likely be in different areas of the ship, and I doubt everyone will be on the same shift together. It seems prudent to have a number of characters cycling through a three-eight hour watch rotation (graveyard, morning-afternoon, afternoon-evening). Besides, off-duty everyone calls my boy Patrick 'Paddy' and on-duty they'd better be calling him sir, commander, or nothing at all. :p

Additionally: does the ship have a 'second officer' (like Data on Star Trek: TNG).

APPEARANCE: 6', pointy ears, pale (Greenish), sleek black hair, always looking logical
BIO: Talek did his Vulcan things on Vulcan. Eventually he joined the Federation because he was interested in the culture of other species, and this was the most logical way to interact with many of them. He became a Counselor because it was also the most logical choice, since people would came to him to talk about themselves.
PERSONALITY: Talek is logical like all Vulcan. However, because he works as a counselor, he thinks he has a better understanding of emotions then most Vulcans (Though he still acts emotionless).

Haha, I know what you're getting at and, yes, the second officer (third in command) would be the highest ranking senior bridge officer, which at the moment is you.

Two Irish men both named Patrick? I like it myself, I can go by Pat and Patrick (while he mentions going by Paddy) or something to make it easier. Plus when we are around each other we can refer to each other by rank sense he outranks me.

Actually, my question had more to do with whether that would 'add duties' as a relevant position in this RP, or would be...kind of secondary (I'm not even sure what Data did as third-in-command).

Then again, being a few steps from the big chair is not something I will complain about.

So far I only have a basic idea of my character, appearance and bio will be up tomorrow.

NAME: Faren Adami (Family name comes first!)
DESIRED RANK: Lietenant Commander
POSITION: Operations Officer
SPECIES: Bajoran
AGE: 31
APPEARANCE: 5'6", medium brown hair, shoulder-length, hazel eyes, athletic build, wears a Bajoran earring on her right ear, per tradition
BIO: Adami's parents fought with the Bajoran Resistance during the Occupation. Both were killed when she was 12. She was taken in by her uncle, a vedek who hoped that she would follow in his footsteps, but at 18 she decided to enter Starfleet. Her attention to detail made her an ideal operations officer, although she fights quite well if placed in a corner. Adami served aboard the USS Nautilus until the end of Dominion War, when she was transferred to the Tokamak.
PERSONALITY: Adami enjoys a good game of springball when off-duty. She also engages in Bajoran meditation techniques that she learned from her uncle. In work situations, she is generally quiet, until something makes her stressed or angry. She will often rub her right ear instinctively if she is stressed. Look out if you see her doing it, you're probably going to get your head bit off.
