I second if only to see more punched reporters in this Let's Play.

God, I know.
He's even more useless from a practical gameplay perspective then Carth was, even if he's not quite as annoying. I almost have to wonder whether Bioware purposefully uses the same VA with every character they introduce into their storylines that happens to be completely worthless as if it was some kind of a practical joke.

Yeah I'm playing a chick protagonist right now, and I don't even care enough about Kaiden to keep him around long enough to fuck, I'm just skipping it and going over to blue lesbian alien babe. To hell with him.

Fun Fact: Female Shepard's voice actor is the same one who did Bastila Shan ala KOTOR. I played it for half an hour in the beginning and went, "Wait a second."

Azisien's take on the value of Immunity:

God damn Immunity. It's the god damn bane of my god damn character. Playing on Insanity with my Sentinel, this is now the only ability that causes me any trouble.

And so the Krogan Warriors charge at me, immunity active. I disable all of them with my biotics, but now's the hard part: doing any damage at all.

Shields go down in one shot, and thus ensued my favourite memory of Mass Effect. I throw the Krogan against the wall, run right up to him, go into equipment, switch my Master Spectre Gear shotty with a damage-increasing stability mod, the best High Explosives mod, and the best Incendiary mod. Point it right at his face, and activate Master Carnage. Boomstick!

The faintest sliver of his health vanishes.

Fuck!

So if you can invest in Immunity, do so.

This Let's Play has actually encouraged me to go buy the PC version of Mass Effect. Sure I have the 360 version but...it's my PC.

The good news is I've finished the playthrough that will take us through Chapter Four, which I'll eventually divide up into two or three posts. Furthermore, Chapter Four will actually get us the hell off Eden Prime. Progress is a good thing.

The bad news is that it's freakin' late at night right now, so don't expect the writeups just yet. Tomorrow (or, err, later today, depending on your timezone?) is looking perfect, however.

Also, I have a dumbass question that never occured to me in my original playthroughs on the 360. Is there a way to make your party members hack things?
Because I have occasional lag spikes on my computer that mess me up when I'm trying to get through the encryption levels.

If your party members have the right skills, you can hack them as if you had their level of skill, but you still have to play the minigame or use omnigel. Which is too bad, because the minigame is terrible.

Bring Down the Sky isn't out for PC yet - it's got a "Coming Soon" page, so whether we see it depends on whether we push Snake through the end game before it comes out.

Actually it is. It released today, you just have to register your PC CD Key on Bioware's website. I almost crapped a brick when I did that this morning and got my BDtS key and subsequent link.

e: It actually plays rather well on the PC from what I've done so far. I'm only on the second torch right now because fuck you proximity mines and batarians with rockets.

e2: Regardless, it's probably a good idea to install it anyway because it patches the game as well. Unfortunately you may have to then run Repair to fix a certain texture glitch on Therum, but that's a really minor problem.

That depends. If I can install Bringing Down The Sky without having to restart the entire game (and trust me, I've downloaded patches and extra content for PC games before that invalidate your previous saves from the previous versions) then I'll do it and include it. If not, I'll stay the hell away from it out of fear of ruining my current playthrough with Taran.

Issues regarding my health (I created a topic in the "General" section of NPF a few days ago if you'd like to know the details) and the general length of Chapter Four have contributed to the delay here but I'm going to try to get at least the first part of Chapter Four up tonight. It's a lengthy one, as there's a lot of cutscene material and "plot twist" stuff to cover. I mean insofar as you could label anything that happens on Eden Prime as "plot twisty." I'm also trying to fit in the Normandy stuff.

It's probably worth me mentioning that I installed it and ran my old saves a-ok/
