The Legends of Demias
This is going to be a story driven fantasy RP, however I'm going to weave the main story around the characters. As in, aside from the first and last chapters, each is going to be based around the storyline of individuals. Chapter 1 would be the intro to the main conflict, chapter 2 would make character A be the main character and focus on his story, chapter 3 would focus on person B, etc. Also, since I'm really new at GMing, I could use a co-GM. If anyone is interested lemme know in your PM.
Send me a PM with your character sheet and the storyline (along with plot twists) so I can work it into the grand scheme. Anyhow, here it goes: ------------------------------------------------------------- You're in the city of Goraz, in the country/continent of Rymala. Rymala is a peaceful democracy, where there is diversity but equality. Elves, Minotaurs, Faeries, Humans, Dwarves, and the rest of various mythical creatures, all live comfortably together. Sadly, there is still a need for weapons. Across the ocean is the land of Ba'Nia, which is a barbaric aristocracy, led by the warrior class, which hungers for conquest. There are no other nations, as every country has either annexed themselves to Rymala for protection or have been taken over by the Ba'Nians. Most people are trained to fight, in case they get drafted to fight. Thanks to magic, fighting is usually done on the no-man's land of insecure teleportation gates. When you woke, you found a letter in your pouch or bag or pocket. Its addressed to you. It reads, "Unbeknownst to the world, a great darkness is descending upon the whole of Demias. This darkness is consuming the world, and leaving no traces. People go missing but nobody remembers them existing. Buildings disappear and everyone remembers the spot to be nothing but farmland or wilderness. Stars have faded from the night sky, and people only remember the emptiness that fills the void. Except for a select few, who are different. Some people haven't been affected by the darkness. Some remember the world as how it was. These chosen people have been called crazy for having a wild imagination, or even put into mental hospitals for hallucinating the impossible. We are the only hope for these people. We are known as the 'Dragon's Blood', dedicated to freeing people with the 'Undying Memory', uncovering the mystery of the lost dragons, and recovering the world from its state of decline. You know us as a guild of thieves, but I assure you we are so much more. We saw you resist the darkness, and thats why we request of your assistance. We can slow the work of the darkness, maybe even stop it, but we need your help! If you're interested in this noble quest, come to the port square at midnight. You might want to quit your job while you're at it, as you'll be out of town a while. Don't worry, you'll be very well compensated for your efforts. -Sincerely, Ayden Leonsbane" -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Suggested races are Elves, Humans, Minotaurs, Faeries, and Dwarves. If you want something I haven't listed, ask and I'll probably approve it. Just about anything goes, as long as its sentient and has a form that lets it fit in the humanoid world. Try to keep it humanoid, and dragons are extinct. It is rumored that there are a few descendents of dragons in the world, and the few that are have been in hiding because the general population of both countries consider them to be abominations. Mage Types: Everyone has magic. Everyone. Whether or not they know how to use it efficiently is another story, but everyone has access to it. The magic type of someone manifests itself at birth, although it is completely random. You can be only one type, but spells are more freeform (with limits). Your skill can be put between as many trees as you want, but just remember that a jack of all trades is a master of none. Conjurer- Summons creatures, spirits (ghosts and astral projections), elemental beings, demons, angels, and some have even discovered how to summon gods. Elementalist- Earth-Wind, Fire-Ice, Water-Lightning. They can control up to 3 elements, but none opposing eachother. The less elements controlled, the stronger the power over it. Strong single-element users can even learn conjuration powers, but only for that element. Psychic- There are 3 branches; Telekinesis, Telepathy, and Divination. Telekenetics can control matter. Telepaths can read, talk to, or even control minds of others. Diviners predict the future, however its easily changed or possibly inaccurate. Especially experienced diviners sometimes have the power to mold the future. Enchanters- Ability to enchant items, others, or even oneself. They all have slight elemental properties, but are primarily status inducers and makeshift healers. Strong enchanters can even speed up or slow down time. Lightwielders- These are essentially elementalists, only more specialized. They are a different class because no elementalist can manipulate light as much as no lightwielder can manipulate the elements. Lightwielders have healing powers as well as manipulation of light. Use your imagination. Shadowbringers- These can manipulate their power to disguise themselves as any other type. People with this magic type are branded at birth and required to wear magic restraints, as this magic is illegal. Use of this magic is illegal. Training of this magic is illegal. Knowing where to get training for this magic is illegal. Asking questions about where to get training for this magic is illegal. You cannot play as this type of mage as people will fear you like a leper, even with the magic restraints. Should you think up a good enough storyline to give me reason to let you play as one, then you would need to play as a makeshift elementalist or enchanter or whatever. Technology of the time: Rymala: Anything not enchanted is Medieval. Magitechnology is found everywhere. Magic-drawn carriages are the main form of transportation for those without teleportation. Some prototypes of magically-enhanced flying machines have had somewhat successful results. Magic weapons usually require the user's magic power, so most ranged weapons are only usuable by elementals and conjured pets. Melee weapons can have various effects, such as poison or stun, but usually also draw upon the user's power. Ba'Nia: Everything except weapons is primitive, to the point of technology in biblical times. Science doesn't advance, weapons do. Magitechonological weapons are at their peak. Using the most advanced runes on complex grids, Managuns are long-range and, without an enchanter's protection, very lethal. They are offset by low accuracy, however the shot will travel quite a distance so a barrage can take out an army. Melee weapons are even stronger, using such runes in a combination with the user's own magic, they can be effective enough to tear through strong enchanters' spells. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Character profile: Name: Obvious Race: " Gender: " Age: " Eyes: " Hair: " Clothes: " Height: " Weight: " Magic: What type and specialization? Favorite use of powers: I don't need to explain this, I hope. Focus: What does your character use most proficiently in battle? Weapons: Duh. Bio: The backstory of your character. Don't make me explain this. Mscl: Add anything you want that doesn't fit in the other categories, I personally don't have anything I can remember at the moment. Here's mine as an example. He won't be with the party or fight much, but rather acts as the Dragon's Blood contact for the group. Name: Ayden Leonsbane Race: Human Gender: Male Age: 20 Eyes: Blue Hair: Brown, cut short Clothes: Black pants, black shoes, a blue jacket, and a white undershirt. He has a silver ring around his left middle finger, and wears a blue jewel his grandmother gave him. Height: 5' 11" Weight: 130 lbs Magic: Psychic, mainly Telekenetic, slightly Telepathic Favorite use of powers: Hovering, and flight when he's experienced enough Focus: Magic combat Weapons: 2 daggers, one is a Ba'Nian ceremonial crystal dagger that drains magic energy, given to him by Dragon's Blood, the other is a slightly longer blade that draws its energy from the holder. When used by Ayden, it confuses and depresses whoever touches the edge of the blade. Bio: Son of a Psychic magitech engineer and a Healer, or at least thats how he remembers it. His mother and father were both erased by the darkness, as well as the town he grew up in. His past and all who knew of him had been taken away, so they now work with Dragon's Blood to fight off the darkness. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- You can join as a chosen or just as someone who believes the chosens. The only way for someone that isn't chosen to be protected from the darkness is if they either have a VERY strong willpower or are cared for dearly by a chosen. Just remember to PM me with your character and full story for me to approve and work you in. I want this to be 10 chapters at the longest, so that means no more than 8 slots are open. Should those fill up fast, I might consider letting people join as people without a story (mercenary or friend of a party member) or even extending the chapter limit if you can think of a good enough story.

Name: Renetta Clifford Race: Human Gender: Female Age: 22 Eyes: Deep Violet Hair: Jet Black Clothes: Standard combination of steel armor fastened with leather straps and cloth for comfort and style. A left shoulderpad, breast plate, fingerless gauntlets, waist plating, and boots compose her armor, with leather straps keeping the armor on her body, and cloth shirts, pants, and glove and boot inserts keeping her comfortable. Height: 5' 4" Weight: 112 Magic: Enchanter / Ally Stat Enhance Favorite use of powers: Boosting physical status to increase physical damage dealt and lessen damage received. Focus: One handed slash-based edge weapons. Basically, swords and knives and especially axes, excluding weapons like rapiers and spears that rely on thrusting. Renetta prefers cutting into her opponents. Gashes just look more cool when inflicted on the enemy. Weapons: Steel Arm-Blade / Arm-Shield (attaches to her wrist and hand with leather straps, with the blade extending parallel to the forearm. The shield part covers the hand, wrist, and roughly half of the forearm.) Bio: Renetta is a mercenary and quite a good one. She wouldn't be in Goraz if it wasn't for her father demanding that she stay within the city. Renetta aspires to accomplish many things in her life, and while it drives her to tears to not be able to leave, she respects and loves her father very much and will not leave without his approval. However, the letter from Leonsbane has settled this internal struggle for her. She'd solve all of the issues that involves the rest of her family that her father didn't explain. Whatever happened to her brother, Trevor? And how did her mother, Helena die? Now that she has a good reason for leaving the city, she's going to solve the mysteries behind her missing family and find out just what her father is protecting her from. I have a signature. It's a really cool one, too. It's so awesome, you'd pull your eyes out and punch your mother. Sadly, these rules state that my signature is just too darned big. Too much awesome for such a small space. Oh well. You can still punch your mother...if you want... Fifth and Krylo made me do it. http://www.animecubed.com/billy/user...sigs/60266.jpg Be the Ultimate Ninja! Play Billy Vs. SNAKEMAN today! |

The profiles are looking really good. I just wanted to add something about shadowbringers, since thats the type of most of the villains I'll be throwing at you.
Shadowbringer magic is powerful. That is something everyone knows without a doubt. In a one-on-one fight against a shadowbringer of equal skill, only a lightwielder would dominate. Due to their power, they are restricted and their practices forbidden. This caused a sociological evolution which socially puts shadowbringers in Demias at the same level as Japanese in 1946 Pearl Harbor or Africans in 1860's Southern USA. Granted, shadowbringers have been demonized by the church, but that was really more for the church's convenience than from actual evidence. They've made up ways and relics to battle rogue shadowbringers, but they're about as effective as praying to the wrong god. The most of the devout are convinced otherwise, but due to the infrequency of rogue shadowbringers, they've no way to prove their claims. Now, although I've said a lot about how shadowbringers are strong, but they aren't unbeatable. Should you be able to outwit, outmaneuver, or merely have more skill than him, you can probably overcome one. Due to the fact that I only kill characters when they either had it coming or it was part of a plot, you'll probably come out alive.

Name: Gwyn
Race: Faerie Gender: Female Age: 29 Eyes: Blue Hair: Black Clothes: A dark purple dress Height: 1'3" Weight: 25 pounds Magic: Lightwielders, specializes in healing, but can use her light manipulation in basic ways. Favorite use of powers: Bright flashes of light that temporarily blind enemies, or light daggers that stun enemies. Focus: Healer. Weapons: A dagger (which she holds like a sword, due to her size) Bio: Gwyn was born a natural healer, and was always ahead of her generation of faeries when it came to light manipulation. She was a healer in Goraz for people who had serious injuries, and she continued studies to further her abilities with light manipulation when she wasnt working. She married a male faerie, and gave birth to a single daughter, whom she named Morgan. One night, darnkess struck, and Gwyn had terrible nigthmares. She managed to escape the nightmares using her power over light, but when she awoke, she found Morgan missing. When she got the letter from Leonsbane, she had to accept. She felt it was her duty to both help heal the world, and find her daughter. Mscl: None (thanks to Bosolai for helping me with background )

Sending a PM soon. Will edit this when it is sent.
EDIT: Character posted after approval. Name: Connor of the Altus Montis Race: Minotaur Gender: Male Age: Human equivalent 27 Eyes: Brown Hair: Brown Clothes: Loose robes and baggy pants. Think something along the lines of an oriental monk. Height: Seven feet, not counting horns. Weight: 390, all muscle. Magic: Enchanter/self-enchantment. Favorite use of powers: Add power to his physical attacks. Focus: Hand-to-hand combat, with himself magically enchanted. Weapons: For the most part, uses no weapons other than his hands and hooves. He carries a sword-in-staff...that is, a staff which houses a sword inside of it. You draw the sword out of the top of the staff, and the top of the staff becomes the hilt. He will use the staff when the situation calls for it, but will only draw the sword when the situation is most dire. He is ever skilled with both the staff and the sword, but will only use the sword when he has no other choice but to take life. Bio: Connor is not your average minotaur. Most likely because he wasn't raised by minotaurs. Connor was raised by a group of warroir monks in the mountains, the Alust Montis, or High Mountains. They never told of his parent's fate...whether they truely didn't know or didn't want to tell them, Connor never discovered. Altus Montis taught that the greatest weapon was the one you were born with, your body. For Connor, that proved doubly true, for the Altus Montis trained him to use his hooves and horns as devistating weapons. The monks also taught how to use magic to refine the body. With magic, fists became hard as rock, kicks landed with the force of a mace. While the Atlus Montis taught that the body was the greatest weapon, they also knew it was not always practical to use only the body. As such, Connor was taught the quaterstaff, and the sword. Life is scared to the monks, but they know the time may come when there is no other choice but to take it. When a Atlus Montis draws his sword from his staff, he means to kill, and has already decided there is no other recourse to killing. As part of his training, Connor was sent out with other young monks to practice in the harsh mountain weather. Upon their return, the Temple was gone...but only Connor seemed to notice. The others continued down the mountain, towards a town that was nestled at the base. When Connor insisted that the Temple had existed and was suppose to be on the very ground they stood, he's compaions thought him mad, and tried to restrain him. On the wind swept mountain, Connor fought the last remaining Atlus Montis. Apparently, the temple was not the only thing that the other monks had forgotten about, for after Connor repelled their inital rush, they quickly drew their swords. After the battle, Connor came down the mountain, alone. While he hadn't draw his sword, the broken remains of his former friends lay buried in the snow of where the temple had existed. He sensed something wrong at work, and left the mountain to track it. His search led him to Goraz, where he awoke with the note in his pouch. With no other leads, and the disappear of the temple and the memory lost of his fellow monks fresh in his mind, he went to meet this Leonsbane Mscl: For the most part, Connor will try to avoid killing any of the major races. The monster races (i.e.: Goblins, orcs...stuff of that ilk) he has no problem killing, as they live to hurt others

Hair: Black, ragged, long and unsecured along with a somewhat grizzly beard. Clothes: faded tan pants fastened with a rope belt, dusty brown boots, sweat stained brown shirt, tan jacket with its sleeves rolled up as well as a "borrowed" dark brown cloak. He also has shackles around his neck and wrists. Height: 6' 2" Weight: 215 lbs Magic: An Ice Wielder Favorite use of Magic: Placing his hand against an object and causing the sudden creation of ice cicles towards his opponent. Bio: Sebastian's life lacked meaning, he merely wandered through the land begging for whatever food he could get. He seemed to remember what others forgot, not that he would mention it to many, until he awoke in a field near Goraz. He found the dragon's blood note in his pocket. He realized then what he must do he must do to give his life meaning. He must not only stop the darkness consuming the land, after all one day there will be no one to pan handle to, then what will he do.
