Custom Avatar
I think this is the best place for this, who here uses custom avatars, I mean really custom, not a screen shoot you cut your self but one you made your self from the ground up, my old one was semi origanol, new one I just made today, every pixle.
Does any one else do this, and if you do how do you make them and how good do you think yours is. Ive made a few for me and my friends, they arnt on this forum so you wont see theres, but they are really amatures, look at mine. I use gimp, since it is the first thing I used and is the one i got used to. I tried using paint and another program, but they didnt work out. |

Making it happen.

I'm currently making one. It's an animated .gif of a lightsaber-y battle... Only problem is the 100x100 pixel size limit... -_-;;

graphic gale was the other one i used. But i didnt want to learn a new program so i didnt use it much. Yes paint is evil, i dont think its very good for sprite creation. Gimp is good if you take the time to learn it, or that could be me trying not to sound like a fool stuck on a bad system.
I wanted to make a active sprite but dont have programs |

Mine's semi-original. I chose the poses and animated it myself. My first one, the White Mage of Death, was made mostly by me. The only thing I didn't make was the White Mage Sprite.

How dare anyone talk down on the great and glorious MS Paint!!! Every comic, avatar, and sprite I've made was done through that wonderful program. Sure, it doesn't have any flair, but by God it gets the job done.
But to get on topic... My avatars usually involve one of my [hevily] modified FFI Sprites and a resized picture. However, to not seem completely devoid of some degree of artistic style, all of my backgrounds in my mediocre comic strip are wholly handmade.

You have a mediocre comic strip as well? I haven't seen that one.
My avatar was spliced, recolored, and subpixelated (note: labor intensive and time-consuming) all in Paint. The starfield background (on the current one, at least) was also put in avatar form by Paint.
