Birmingham Evacuation
The city of Birmingham in the UK is being evacuated due to a possible terror threat. There should be a statement soon. I will edit when there is more news.

Thankyou for bringing this to my attention. I'd been watching DVD's all afternoon and didn't realise this was going on. I hope I shrunk this picture enough. Just so you guys can get a better idea of distances and stuff, as I know it's slightly different from how the American map may be viewed. Red Circle = London. Where the Bombings took place. Blue Circle = Birmingham, where the Entertainment District is being evacuated. White Circle = Where Shiney and RaiRai live. As you can see, Shiney and myself are quite away from all of the events that are happening, but that doesn't mean they don't affect us/won't change. In fact, my store is currently on Amber Alert after the bombs and a few recent power outages.

Amber Alert?
That means something different in America. Would that be like Orange or Yellow?

Yellow, most likely, as I am informed by my American counterpart. Assuming yellow is worse than orange. Like a stoplight. Green = Good. Amber = Caution. Red = You're fucked.

Here, the levels go (from lowest to highest): Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange, Red.
Since the system has been established here, it's almost always been on yellow, being elevated to orange in times when a greater threat is preceived. Like it was elevated to orange on Thursday specifically for public transportation (everywhere else but the buses and trains was still yellow).

They also evacuated manchester picaddilly station as well on saturday because of a bomb scare, although that wasn't as serious as the scare in birmingham.
This is the news story - not as big as the one in birmingham either, more of a footnote Manchester scare only reason I know of it is because all the trains from manchester picadilly were cancelled or delayed last night, it was all over the announcements at the train station.. |

I think I choose to stay at home all of next week. I work in a big mall in the centre of Bristol...
