I could never get past the first level in ghouls and ghosts…
Does that make me a pitiful gamer? Or is the game too damn hard?

That makes you a pitiful gamer... I remember getting up to the boss...
There's a saying. If at first you dont succeed... throw the controller through the window. Or something. Hehe, keep trying. Eventually you'll get better.

That game was crazy hard, but you're still a pitiful gamer. I beat it once... a long long time ago. Of course if you mean super ghouls and ghosts, then you just suck.

I thought the name was Ghosts and Goblins. Oh well. I never could get past the first level in that game either --; I think ONCE I got lucky and made it to the second level (keep in mind I was little when I was playing that game.. if it was too hard, I just quit on it) I remember watching... I think my mom playing it... and she got to the last stage before dying. So yeah... it IS possible to beat it... just takes a lot of work. (and if my Nintendo was still working, I MIGHT try to play it...)

Well, on the NES cartridge it is Ghosts and Goblins, but the SNES sequel (which is far easier) is called Super Ghouls and Ghosts. I'm guessing that most people here don't play it on the NES and on the emulators it's Ghouls and Ghosts. Probably to fix a translation error or something like that.

Ahh... well, I still have the old original NES catridge of the game... and last time I played it it was still working... It's just now that either my NES is shot, or the power cord is screwed up (can't tell which... the power isn't coming on at all, so it could be either) so I can't try it. ._.; Maybe I'll just take it to my Papa's house next time I go and play it on his NES since it still works fairly well

Ghosts & Goblins and Ghouls and Ghosts are two seperate games. The former was released in the arcade in '85 and the latter in '88. The NES version would be a port of the older game, while the newer one was first ported to the Genesis, and then a version (SG&G) was released on the SNES. Oh, and there was also a version for the SuperGraphx that I remember because it was the best looking console version at the time it was released.
PS. The Japanese name of Ghouls & Ghosts is Dai Makai-Mura which appearantly translates out to "Great Demon World Village". I wonder why they changed the name? Last edited by Priest4hire; 01-02-2004 at 09:02 PM. |

Hmm, odd... because when I played Super Ghouls and Ghosts it was the exact same play style, very familiar character, etc. as ghosts and goblins. Differences that made it easier is that there were more suits of armor about, better weapons, and you could get hit more than twice. Plus SNES games just about always have better play control.
