Tale of the Tribe: interest thread
The day is bright, the pure blue of the sky goes unmarred by passing clouds as the sun plays across the sea of shields and spears, helmets and swords. The great tide of humanity stands poised to sweep down on the small citadel that lies un-molested by the violence that has stained the grass of neighboring city-states the crimson red of blood. In the quiet valley the people go about their business as usual. Farmers step out into the fields to tend their livelyhoods, blacksmiths bring their ringing hammers down upon the bars of iron that become weapons or tools under their guiding hands. Woodsmen step into the forests to fell the great living oaks of their homeland, while huntsmen step into the forest to take the lives of the denizens of theforest to feed their families.
The army stands at attention, massed behind the banners of their respective homelands as well as the mighty warrior-heros who lead them. The man in the lead, a hulking beast of man in shining silver armor astride a white stallion of majestic beauty and strength, raises his sword high above his head. Then, with a movement that seems to slow time with its descent, he brings the blade down to slap against his horses flank. The horse leaps forward, as do the countless soldiers who follow the man it carries, and as a single great beast they surge down the side of the valley towards the peaceful citadel below them. Only now do the people notice the charging army, only now do shouts of alarm and crys of fear reach the ears of the approaching soldiers. The crys go unheeded as the horde tears through the small village that has grown up outside the castle's walls. The people fall before the soldiers like dry wood before the fire. ************************ A group of men and women stands on the lip of the valley looking down upon the scene of carnage that lies below them. Another castle burned, another people slaughtered, another bunch of wasted deaths added to the toll that had become immeasurable in recent days. The destruction was total. As the small group made their way into the valley proper they could already see that there were no survivors. Their never were. The invaders were too thorough, they always were. The group moves to the heart of the castle proper. It was here that the final defense was fought, the ground churned into mud with the movements of many feet, and it became apparent immediatly that the fighting had been fierce. Yet, as always, the defenders were defeated and cut down before the blades of the invaders. The men and women of the group begin the tiring task of cleaning up. The bodies are buried, the proper rights are preformed and the group moves on. ********************** In a time long lost to history a great stone struck the surface of the world. The world was cracked by its coming and into these cracks in the world flowed the waters of the oceans and rivers. History has no witness to this event, yet there are those who were privy to this happening. A small group of indigenous people watched as the great stone struck the Earth. They were bathed in it's light and this light changed them forever. Their bodies did not grow old and die, they did not lose their strength and wither away. Even great wounds appeared to heal incredibly fast, and the people never lost their lives to them. They continued living throughout the stone age, learning and adapting to the changing environment around them. They later rationalised that the great stone's holy light must have changed them somehow. They continued to live and watch as the world continued ot grow and change around them, as civilizations rose and fell and children of the children of their oldest friends became adults and eventually died. They stayed together throughout it all, becoming known throughout history as the Tribe. OOC: Anybody interested in an rp based on this stuff?

Just a few questions:
Magic - Do we have it? Era - Do we have one? Group - The Tribe, I assume?

Magic- I'd have to figure out a reason why we would but it's possible.
Era- I was kinda hoping to move around a bit, spend some time in a middle ages type setting, hence the first part of the interest thing. Then maybe move into more modern stuff later. Group-Yes, your character would be a member of The Tribe.

I've been doing some thinking on the topic of this rp and I've come up with a few new ideas.
1.Lost ages: Ages such as the "Sorcerous Age", hence magic, or maybe the "Forgotten Age", perhaps super tech? I like this because it leaves the abilities for your character virtually open ended. 2. Custom weapons and battle styles: Your character has been around since the beginning of time. So wouldn't it make sense that he/she has come up with some interesting discoveries over the course of his/her life? This allows for mixes between modern and old fashioned weapons, such as gun-blades, or even totally custom weapons (dare I say... sword chucks?). 3. Village of the tribe: Originally I thought the Tribe would be nomadic, but then I started thinking about a village that incorporates technology and architecture from the various ages. Might be fun to rp something like that. What are your oppinions on these ideas and is there anything else you would like to incorporate? If you don't like an idea say so. Likewise, if you like an idea please say so.

Swallow and Roll Out!

I was wondering, (because I tend to do that sometimes) whether you would want to model it after that Disney cartoon movie Atlantis? They had some awesome technology (well... *I* thought it was awesome at least) what with using crystals and stuff... Or heck... even that ancient game of Starcraft (can't remember the race ATM, but there was stuff related to Pylons and whatnot... I just dug up the game again recently...)
Tribes aren't necessarily nomadic. They're just the term for a primitive colony of people. Personally, I'd go with option 2, but it depends on the plotline and what we're going to do..... help the victims of the invaders, perhaps?

You mean the Protoss. And, Starcraft may be old, but it's still damn good!
On a more related and relevant note, that #2 option, and the #3 option, are both cool. I vote either/both.

I like this. Cout me in.
How about we have all of the settings. Something like the Lost Ages with custom weapons with the setting sometimes in the village.
