Five Swords of Death: Sign-up
Long ago a man known only as the creator fashioned five blades of incredible power. Each drained a different aspect of what makes a human 'alive'. Together they are capable of not simply ending life, but unmaking it. He scattered these weapons and planted rumors to fuel the curious. Then setting out made sure other had motivation to use them. Entire nations were destroy to fulfill his desires.
Once the weapons were found, their wielders were filled with an urge to kill. The swords had they own demonic will, a desire to feed and become stronger. As the wielder killed they grew in power, but so did the weapons hold over them. However the human race was still far too small for the weapons to reach their full potential. So each time a sword found a suitable owner, they were soon put to sleep. Thus the wielders of the swords of life, blood, souls, light, and darkness awoke in modern day. To continue their quest to destroy the Creator. Basic Profile Name: Gender: Age: (actually how you appear, not your real age) Appearance: Bio: (must include why you want to kill the creator so badly you will risk being a killing machine) Sword: Sword Name: (optional) Other Weapons: (if any, you can have modern weapons.) There are a total of five slots, I dont do dibs or place holders. And being first to post a profile doesn't mean you get it. I am looking for the first 5 solid profiles. Here are the first special attack of each sword Light- Holy Light-can fire a beam of condenced piercing light, incinerating all it hits Darkness- Black Zenith- creates a sphere of dark energy that erases the object it hits Blood- Crimson Rain- fires an arch of blood needles, ripping apart flesh Souls- Spirit Slash- creates and energy arch blasting all it hits Life- Shard Blast- starting at the tip it splinters and fires out the pieces in a narrow cone. Once the pieces drain out life of what they hit the sword reforms. Final note, you five will be starting the RP in one place with armed men just trying to keep the peace. From your first post you will have to decide, to seek a non-violent solution or give into the swords temptation and kill.

Basic Profile
Name: Takeda Shingen Gender: Male Age: Looks mid 40's (actually nearly 500) Appearance: Takeda looks like a distinguished, healthy middle-aged Asian man. He has a classical look to him, based in part on the actor who played him in the 1973 film about the Oda Nobunuga wars. Bio: Takeda Shingen was born Takeda Katsuchiyo. He took the name Takeda Harunobu at his coming of age ceremony, and in the year of 1551 changed his name once again, this time to the well-known "Takeda Shingen". Shingen is sometimes referred to as "The Tiger of Kai" (Kai being the Takeda home province) due to his fearsome martial art skills on the battlefield. His rival, Uesugi Kenshin, was often called "The Dragon of Echigo". Shingen and Kenshin had always been interested in Chinese culture, especially the works of Sun Tzu; in Chinese mythology, the Dragon and Tiger have always been bitter rivals who try to defeat one another, but they always fight to a draw. By 1564, after he had completely defeated the Shinano region and taken a number of castles from his rival the Uesugi clan, Shingen kept his realm fairly contained, contenting himself to a number of small raids and mostly internal affairs. During this time he ordered the damming project of the Fuji River, which was one of the major domestic activities of the time. The future of all of Japan was now in the balance, as Takeda Shingen, at 49 years of age, was the one daimyo with the power, position, and skill necessary to stop Oda Nobunaga's headlong rush to ruling the land of Japan. He engaged Tokugawa forces in 1572 and captured Futamata, and then stepped forward once again in January at Mikata-ga-hara. At Mikata-ga-hara, Takeda Shingen easily defeated the combined armies of Oda Nobunaga and Tokugawa Ieyasu; but he could not defeat old age. After defeating Tokugawa Ieyasu, Shingen actually checked his forward momentum for a small time due to outside influences, and Ieyasu was given a brief reprieve. Surprisingly, as he started pressing forward once again in 1573, Takeda Shingen died (scholars are divided as to whether this was due to illness or a festering wound from a sniper). At least, that is what Takeda Shingen wanted everyone to think. The truth be told, it was during this time that he came into posession of a sword of tremendous power, taking it off of a crazed Oda assassin who slaughtered his way through Takeda's retinue, and into Takeda's military tent. The assassin, though, crazed as he was and wielding a sword of tremendous power, was simply not a match for Takeda's phenomenal skill and prowess with his own normal blade. The assassin died, his head severed, and Takeda was immediately taken by the sword that the man had used. Careful not to touch it, he removed it from the man's hands, and placed it in an ornate wooden box. For months he studied it, consulting his tremendously extensive library, looking into the blade's history, and he uncovered it's true origin, and it's true purpose. And suddenly, faced with the obliteration of existence, his wars against Oda Nobunuga and Uesugi seemed to pale by comparison. In co-ordination with the closest members of his retinue, his death was faked, vital information was passed on to Uesugi ensuring the man would defeat Oda Nobunuga, and claim the throne of Edo. Takeda, on the final night of his mortal life, picked up the sword for the first time touching it with his bare skin. The battle of wills that followed nearly killed Takeda. He managed to escape the borders of his military forces before giving into the rage flowing through his body. He vented the rage on the trees, but the sword was not sated until he had vented upon two Uesugi ninjeni scouts. Only after completely decapitating the two skilled, but still hapless, men, did Takeda regain control of himself. He sheathed the blade, and set out to learn more of the blades and their creator.... and then to find, and kill him. After a decade of searching, going to the ancient libraries in the mountains of Chi'in, speaking to wizened and nigh-immortal monks, he was beginning to unravel the mysterious origins... but those same monks conspired to take Takeda out of the equation. Working in concert with a hundred members of their order, the monks sealed Takeda, asleep but not asleep, in the deepest room of their monastery, and sealed the blade as well, for what they hoped would be eternity. Eternity it was not, and during the chaos of China's military career in the mid 1900's, the monastery was shelled, the monks fled, and Takeda was freed. He managed to escape to Russia, but he soon found out his kind was not welcome there. Down through India, into Korea, and then to the United States in the late 60's, he found that an incredible amount of time had passed. Most of the ancient knowledge he sought had been lost, but still he searched, always wary that, someday, this Creator would set out to find him, and the sword. Setting up shop as a Hu Quan sensei in San Francisco allowed him a decent cover, and some money, while he searched for more information, anything to further his quest. As time goes by, he finds that using the sword becomes more of a compulsion. Killing in self-defense soon becomes the very least of his worries. His travels around the world soon result in killings all around the world, and he knows that, at some point, high-tech law enforcement will find him, and he will be on the run again, making his quest all the more dangerous, and urgent. Now, in modern times, he believes he is finally close to finding the Creator, and the other blades. Sword: Would prefer Light, or Darkness. Either one is good! Sword Name: Tora Kai (Takeda's old military nickname) Other Weapons: Hands, feet. Note: Should I change it so that I just fall asleep instead of the monks forcing me to sleep? |

Name: Lafayelle Elfenleid
Gender: Female Age: 22 Appearance: A youthful caucasian with a well developed sexuality, dark violet hair with pink highlights and black eyes that reflect like mirrors, Lafayelle wears a dark green leather jacket with a brown t-shirt, faded denim jeans, and black boots. A large black leather belt with a black buckle holds the sheath for her swords. Bio: Lafayelle was a mercenary and the girlfriend of Stephanoth, leader of a band of five adventurers, seeking treasure and excitement in the world's most distant and least traveled reaches. One day, Stephanoth gets called upon by a village elder to investigate some ruins where recently there has been bizarre activity. Thinking that perhaps this was something he and his comrades couldn't handle alone, Lafayelle followed them into the area. Peering at them from a massive doorway, she could hear Stephanoth advising one of his party members, Kaitlynn, not to touch...something...until they knew what it was. When the large doors automatically slammed shut, Lafayelle knew that apparently Kaitlynn decided to ignore Stephanoth's orders. Lafayelle tried desperately to get the doors open and find out what happened even as the screams on the other side clued her in to something ominous and horrible occuring within. When she finally opened the chamber up, there was Kaitlynn, clutching a malevolently glowing sword and surrounded by Stephanoth and the other party members, all obviously dead. It was a desperate struggle. Kaitlynn was clearly not herself in the battle that ensued. Confused and betrayed, Lafayelle eventually bested Kaitlynn in battle. Disarming Kaitlynn and taking the sword for herself, Lafayelle had skillfully impaled the swordfighter, and in that instant knew why Kaitlynn had commited the murders of her friends. Kaitlynn had always sought great power and just by avenging Stephanoth and the others, Lafayelle felt power resonate throughout her bones as well as hearing the voice of the creator within seconds after slaying Kaitlynn. The sword had a twisted and horrible destiny, and Lafayelle began her journey to find some way to destroy the sword and ruin the creator's designs. This led her to Archamedeus, a powerful sage living by himself in an advanced atelier below the ground. Lafayelle's heart sank as she listened to the results of Archamedeus's research on the sword. There was no way to destroy the sword and, whether anyone liked it or not, someone would become the wielder of the sword and slay all life in order to clean the world of humanity. However, it might be possible to feed the sword and use its increasing powers to destroy the creator, thus preventing the elimination of the human race. Further information made it abundantly clear that with the current population of the world, total annihilation of the human race as well as whole kingdoms in some parts of the world could be a result of making such an attempt. Over a night, Lafayelle came to terms with the situation and decided that if anyone should suffer the horrors of becoming the master of the sword, the role should fall to her. Archamedeus agreed, and they concurred that Lafayelle should sleep for a time so the world's population could expand to feed the sword's unquenchable appetite. Placed in a small chamber and frozen with the sword in her right hand, Lafayelle would sleep for centuries as the world changed, evolved, and filled up with strangers. A few years before now, Lafayelle finally awakened from centuries of sleep and emerged from the cocoon. The atelier was in bad shape from cataclysms that must have occured over the many years, and the wise sage Archamedeus was nowhere to be seen. Remembering the terrible destiny that lay in store for her, Lafayelle set out into the world of today, her hatred for the creator growing and the sword humming in antipation of the first kills. Sword: Preferably Blood Sword Sword Name: Kaitlynn's Tear Other Weapons: Steel Bastard Sword - Lafayelle's steel bastard sword from her years as a mercenary in the past. Given to her by Stephanoth as a gift for passing her trial to become a licensed mercenary. Last edited by Astral Harmony; 08-23-2006 at 03:18 PM. |

Now with an extended bio to show what the hell happened after Kryn was thawed out!
Name: Kryn Cimiron Gender: Male Age: 23 Appearance: Kryn is 5’10” with blue eyes, shoulder-length dirty blonde hair, and a scar running from under his right eye down to his jaw bone. He looks fairly average in build, but is still pretty muscled. He wears a pair of dark jeans, a simple black shirt, and a brown leather jacket made just for his job. It has metal plating in the lining for extra protection (plus he just feels at home in something like armor), as well as a special harness for Animus on the back. He also wears a pair of gloves that have metal plates on the top, kind of for looks, but also for a little protection/punch. And, just to round out the whole thing, he has a pair of steel-toed boots that are there for obvious reasons. Bio: Once a knight from a large kingdom, Kryn was happy defending his people and serving his Lord. He was content with what he was doing, until he got backstabbed for his position. He was lead out to a supposed bandit nest, and then beaten until he couldn’t move. Kryn awoke to find himself in the middle of the woods, stripped of everything but the clothes on his back, badly beaten, and far away from home. He found himself wandering back toward his former home, eventually making it back, but only to find anyone he knew either dead or locked up in some torture chamber. If not for the fact that he was thought dead, he might have been happy that he was still alive, but he wasn’t. His family and friends had suffered heavily while he was trying to get home, and there was nothing he could do about it. He swore vengeance, but he needed something to fight with other than his bare hands. So, he sought out anyone who might know where he could get a powerful weapon to go through with this. It didn’t take long to find someone willing to give advice, possibly because of a rumor that Kryn had returned. Either way, Kryn eventually ran into info about the Sword of Souls, which was said to damn the souls of those it fights and save those around its wielder. It was a single man, however, that actually led Kryn to the artifact. The man seemed to know much more about it than others… which was strange, but Kryn was too angry to notice. It took quite a while, and a few sacrifices, to reach the sword, but Kryn was all too happy to find it… And that’s when things went from fairy tale story of revenge, to something different. The man Kryn had gotten info from seemingly came out of nowhere, explaining to Kryn just what the sword was, and that he had made it. Kryn, rather pissed off, took the only name he had heard from this person, the “Creator” into his memory and attacked. It was in vain, of course, because he soon saw blackness, like some sort of sleep that seemed to stretch on forever. Thinking in his personal prison, Kryn thought back to being betrayed so easily, and twice, no less. The second time, he’d been toyed with just to use some sword, denied the ability to save whatever remained of those he knew and cared for already. That was obvious, though. The first time still had him confused. No one before that moment had wanted him dead, he would have heard about it for sure. So that had to mean someone with huge connections just wanted him either dead or out of the way. But who could have... Of course, this creator person had wanted him with the sword. But could it have been him? It seemed like a far out idea, but still plausible. It was also the only thing that seemed right, and that made Kryn even more angry that he was, which really wasn't a good thing at this point. So really, all he could do was wait until he woke up, building up everything for the Creator. So, in the present, Kryn found himself awake in a pretty confusing place, but decided to adapt. He had a shitload of anger to vent, and only on one person. So, doing what he did best -- fighting -- Kryn decided to become a mercenary. Using the Sword of Souls, now named Animus Raptor, however, proved to be a bad thing in that decision. He ended up killing instead of knocking out, but it seemed like some sort of natural thing. It was something crossing his mind more and more, so he found himself using a gun, instead. While he is tempted to use the sword a lot, he manages to resist most of the time, keeping the sword's voice quiet, for the most part. So, still searching for the creator, Kryn slowly feeds the sword, hoping he can figure out what's going on with his head. Sword: Sword of Souls (hopefully) Sword Name: Animus Raptor Other Weapons: A handgun and a knife So, summary on the bio, for the lazy: Kryn was a knight. He got beaten to a pulp and left for dead. He came back home to find his family pretty much wiped out. He wants revenge, finds info on whatever sword he'll get, and goes after it. He finds it, but finds out the Creator basically tugged him by the hand to it so Kryn could wield it. Kryn gets more pissed off, but is frozen, only to get more pissed off at Mr. Creator while he sits there for a couple hundred years, realizing the creator might have been the one to ruin his life. Naturally, he just gets even more pissed off. He wakes up in the modern day, wanting to kill the Creator for ruining his chance at revenge, getting settled into modern life in the process, slowly feeding the sword in his new job of killer-for-hire. |

ok things look pretty good. Though the begining of WB's profile seems abit needlessly bulky. I dont care, but some people might find it abit too much to read. Also, if I read that right you were about 30 or 40 then spent decades on research. But wouldn't that mean your an old man before your sealed. Speaking of monks sealing you, works for me. In all cases it is more or less an excuse to explain why your character is in modern times. So I am not too picky about it.

I assumed since other players went with "agelessness", that as soon as I touched the sword I, too, stopped aging. Maybe my aging just slowed, I figured I spent ~ ten years doing research, so I could still be mid 40's. After I got out, my aging had more or less stopped, so from my time in the 50's to the present, I look more or less the same.
As for the introduction, that is excerpted from the Wiki article on Takeda Shingen, I was trying to explain to people who he is, and what I'm doing with him. If people in a text-based roleplaying game find that too much to read, I may be in the wrong game. |

Name: Ren Siung
Gender: Male Age: 20ish Appearance: about 5'6", 150 lbs, lithe, asian, shoulder length black hair, black eyes, has patch over left eye, scar running from hairline, through eye, stops at corner of mouth, pulls lip into snarl. Wears black buttondown shortsleeve shirt, unbuttoned, white tank top, black cargo jeans, carries sword in back sheath. Bio: Ren Siung was a small child when a blind soothsayer passing through walked past him and suddenly turned, seeming almost to look directly at Siung, rambling something about "For the one eye to remove the curse of Riunga, he must unmake that which made her." When Siung's father, a deeply superstitious man, heard of this, he began training Siung to become a warrior, believing that if Siung was a great warrior, he'd never lose his eye, and therefore would never be cursed. When Siung was fifteen, he lost his whole village when desert raiders attacked. They took him and several others hostage and put them in gladiator pits. While there, he was arming up for a match and came across a plain sword (I'm thinking something like a starved form of the sword). Intruiged by how simply plain it was, he took it up and used it for a spectacular. After the victory, Siung began hearing this quiet voice in the back of his mind. At first, Siung didn't notice, but eventually, when he was close to the sword, the voice, naming itself Riunga, became far from quiet, convincing him, in a feminine, almost loving voice, to take up that same sword as before, that he'd have an even more spectacular win. As he lifted it in battle, he again won a spectacular victory, though he doubted it was truly the sword, and just an amazing stroke of luck. After that the voice was louder, constantly using that charismatic and loving voice, telling him that he deserved to kill, kill, KILL! Siung took the sword in the next fight, and in that fight, lost his left eye. However, in his bleeding rage, Siung stepped up a massive attack, tearing into his enemy's defense. As their swords clanged together, everyone at the pit was terrified and amazed to see his enemy's sword shatter and Riunga rip into him. As the other gladiator's torso split, Riunga returned, angry and powerful, demanding that Siung take revenge on everyone who led up to the loss of his precious eye. That night, Siung and the other gladiators on his chain snuck out, stole enough weapons from the armory for the other gladiators. As they pilfered, Siung saw the sword, Riunga, and took it up again, noticing now that it had somewhere gained a slight intricacy, a simple line running up the blade in an unknown pattern. With Riunga in hand, Siung and the other gladiators took the weapons back to their tent, armed the others, and silently slaughtered all the raiders in their sleep. With that complete, Siung and the others began trying everything they could find to get the manacles off, to no success. At this point Riunga again piped up, explaining to Siung that, though she could cut through his manacles, she didn't want to help those that would kill him, and that he should simply slaughter them. Looking at Riunga, he again noticed that she'd somehow become more intricate than before, now gaining new lines, and even a word had somehow engraved itself on her. Reading the word, Siung was somehow convinced to kill the other gladiators. As he stood with the last of them, an old childhood friend, bleeding out on Riunga, he looked at Siung, looked down at Riunga, looked back at Siung, and simply said "The one eye." When he looked down at Riunga, he named her perfectly, but Siung had never told anyone. When Siung remembered the prophesy, he threw Riunga over a cliff and set up camp. The next morning, when he awoke, Riunga was propped up against him, singing her voiceless song. Over the course of a decade, Siung somehow came to rely on Riunga's presence, never feeling complete unless she was in his hand, and not just due to the magic; she was the longest termed companion he'd ever had. As this time went on, Siung deteriorated into a mindless killing machine, sweeping across Asia and into Europe, where he single handedly lay siege to a wizard's tower with the now beautifully intricate and terrifyingly forged sword. Just as he delivered a mortal blow to the wizard's stomache, the wizard cursed him to sleep until Riunga lost her beauty and he regained himself. When Siung awoke in present times, Riunga appeared to be the same sword he'd first seen her as, with about as much pull, but now he couldn't even think of putting her more than a foot away. Though now he sought to destroy the creator, understanding the evil that was Riunga. Sword: Life (That's just a preferred thing, I'll take whatever you give me) Sword Name: Riunga

Looking at it all, I think there won't have to be any fighting over swords since we each prefer different ones.
Whale Biologist wants Light. Armored Bishoujo wants Blood. Lazy Man wants Soul. Tarren wants Darkness. And Dementedmongoose wants Life. |

ok I think everything is in order. I will get the RP up soon. Though Mongoose, please dont do large blocks of text in one paragraph. Its just hard to read.
Sign-ups are closed, this is now the discussion thread because I am too lazy to make one. [edit] I am sure this is a duh, but you each get the sword you want since there are no conflicts.
