Default Detective Shows

Hey, Brian and forumites. If you're into detective shows, I found that Veronica Mars is a good one. You can probably rent the first season, or even buy it for, like, twenty five smackers.

Any other detective shows you'd like to see, or that you enjoy? I found Psych's "Glowing Clues" were kinda annoying, and a real turn off. A shame, as I like Dule Hill.

I have to say, I prefer my mystery stuff old-school--Jeremy Brett as Sherlock Holmes FTW. More if I can think of any.

I was just telling Brian that the only way that part could be more BITCHEN' RAD would be if he shouted "Enhance! Enhance!" every time it happened. But Dule Hill is awesome, he and Timothy Omundson are my favorite parts of the show.

Everyone we know keeps suggesting Veronica Mars to us, but teen shows just aren't our thing. Zoe on Eureka more than fulfills the whiny-ass MySpace Generation requirement of our TV viewing diet.

What I really miss is Jonathan Creek. We heard they did a few seasons without the lady who played Maddie, but it just wouldn't be the same without her.

I like the early seasons of Monk, personally. The new ones just aren't as entertaining.

I like Mystery! on PBS. It uses stories from all different authors, and the majority of them are good. It generally makes my Sunday night these days. (may be on at other times or days for other local stations)

... You know, Veronica isn't actually a whiny MySpace teen. I was terribly surprised that the show was what it was. Sure, it has its romances that you see on teen shows, but it also has something more than that. Like date rape. And STDs.

Besides, even WITH the father on the show owning his own detective agency, I can still do your "two side characters open up a detective agency" and make it work.

MySpace Generation
Hell. Is that what the next-gen name is? What age bracket do you have to be in for that? I'm 22... I think I missed what my generation's 'buzzword/god-awful title' was supposed to be.

I was big-into CSI for a bit. It was a cool gimmick at first but after the first round of viewings it kinda lost its luster and just seemed like a sleezy, guilty pleasure more than anything...

Law & Order and it's off-brands have been pretty good to me, although they sometimes fall to far into the 'disturbing for disturbment's sake' kind of episodes.

I don't know that I'ver ever actually seen a TV show that actually involved the viewer in the mystery (expect for that expirament-of-a-show where they expressly told you what you were supposed to do which I found extremely distasteful).

It's... it's just that you seem so enthusiastic about these things being included in your viewing expieriance. I mean, huh?

"Yeah, Everwood is a pretty entertaining teen-drama, but Veronica Mars? That mess has got a date-rape and exposure to all manner of venerial diseases like... every other episode! It's great! It's a critical sucess!"

Hercule Poirot. Greatest. Detective. Ever.

Plus he has an awesome mustache.

I regularly watch Monk, Psych, & Eureka. All great shows. Does House count as a detective show? It was designed as a medical mystery, and the character House is based heavily on Sherlock Holmes.

That was meant to be humorous. VMars's real strength is its dialogue and the noir-ish aspect of its mysteries.
