Default How many books do you read in a year?

This is just something that I have been wondering about for a while. I usually read about 40-60 books a year, although this is the first year I have officially kept count. I'm currently reading numbers 45 and 46 for the year. I was thinking about initiating something like Livejournal's 50bookchallenge and I was wondering if anyone was interested. I figured this would be easier since there would be a set thread to talk about books instead of having random threads that pop up for a month and then disappear.

That's about it. Let me know your book count and if you're interested!

I would be interested. I generally don't get much time to read at any given time, but, I think that it will be worth a shot.

I'll be taking the hard road starting out, though, by reading the entirety of the released Wheel of Time series. Including New Spring. And then probably the A Song of Ice and Fire series.

Yay for major challenges!

If ya aren't counting school textbooks, and I wouldn't, probably one to five a year.

Hehe, I guess I cheated then, since I counted the books I read for school last semester. The majority of them weren't textbooks though, which was why I figured it was ok. (I was taking all history and english classes.)

I never count textbooks, because I rarely actually read anything in them. They are there for defining the occasional word, answering the occasional question, or the occasional homework. And to buff out a reference list for a paper. I barely read a whole sentance in them.

Actual novels and more commercial books, however, do count. Because most of the times those can be fun to read.

Except for The Great Gatsby. Hate Hate Hate Hate HATE that damn book.

It's been a slow and lazy year. I'd guess somewhere between fifty and sixty as of now. Probably peak at 75 by Christmas. I don't know what's gotten into me lately.

Hard to say. I don't usually keep track of how many books i read. If i had to ballpark it, i'd say about 110.

It depends on my mood and if I'm interested in the book.

So far this year, I'd say 7 books. :3nod:

I'm going to try and find the first book in the Dark Tower series next.

Depends entirely on the year you refer to. In a good year I can get through literally hundreds, I've read the Lord of the Rings inside a week before, most novels I can get through in a day. Recently I've been taking it a bit slower, and catching a few graphic novels, which are a bit more expensive, which kind of slows me down a little.
