The Internet has infected Politics like an outbreak of E. Coli
This sounds more like an argument from the discussion board than something in congress
The part about the "real Klingons" makes me laugh everytime.

You know, I see his point, but I really think that he could have used actual goddamn history instead of Star Trek.

Real Klingons would have won in Iraq...but instead of rebuilding it, they would conquer it in defiance of the Federation and claim it as part of their mighty empire.

I think this guy loses just because, using Star Trek to debate=lose.

Also, it inspired this little nugget of joy.
But I mean, seriously, Klingons? At least get your analogy straight before you walk out there and make a fool of yourself. Personally, I thought Cardassians would've been the better comparison...

I don't see how a popular television series analogy is any more or less real or relevant than a historical analogy. Most people don't study history or have a firm grasp on it, while many people understand the ethical and moral implications of TV shows. The goal is to make a point and be understood. You can make a point using history but fail to convey your point to everyone.
