Original monsters you've made for tabletop games
I'm sure any GMs on the board have made at least a couple of their own monsters. Post about them here.
I'm currently working out my own dragon for my epic D&D players to fight. The mighty wraith dragon. He's gonna be baddass; a dragon who so feared death that his soul lingered on. The glory and pride of a dragon have been replaced by a profound horror, and hatred. They tend to be bound to the hordes they possessed in life, and guard them even more jealously than a living dragon, even if only a few coins remain. In fact, many are driven to destroy every living thing for miles around their lair, perceiving it all as a threat. There is no reasoning with a wraith dragon, though they retain their old intelligence. Their fear aura is greatly amplified, and may even cause insanity. It is only the eldest of dragons that is so powerful it may cling to life hard enough to become a wraith dragon, so they possess great stores of power.

I once had some PCs fight Dire Gerbils.
There was a circus in town you see, and someone let them loose. We actually lost a player due to that, he (a paladin in Heavy armor) decided it was a good idea to jump in the well to get out of the way of the Gerbil stampede. He drowned... In his defense, hes the only one who took the gnome's warning's seriously. If a Gnome comes running down the path yelling "The dire gerbils are coming! FLEE!" you flee.

I did make a half-demon half-Yuan Ti pureblood (which is really self-contradictory if you think about it) once. Wasn't really that effective, though.
Here's the stat sheet for it. Also made a Zombie Yuan-Ti. Other than that, nothing really original. I did, however, stat out Koopa Troopas for 3rd ed D&D.

I remember for one campaign which I DM'ed a couple years ago, some mad wizard created a portal which gated into a bunch of various vieogames. I made stats for Koopas and Bowser, and made a Mario castle. They nearly died that time, because I made Bowser a Frenzied Berserker and he went into a deathless frenzy. The problem for them was they just thought he was a barbarian, and kept trying to kill him.
I also remade Thieves Town from Legend of Zelda : LttP (fourth crystal dungeon). Good times.

Everyone knows Slivers from Magic: The Gathering?
We made those into an otherworldly Monster like the clockwork horrors and an entire campaign. beleive me, Immune to Magic, Super Strong, etc. etc. We had a Sliver creature for every card, including Queen, Sliver Overlord, etc. and it was amazing. the Queen was this incredible Psionic monster. We're still reusing it as our epic campaign, because no one has gotten past part 2 of the 14 part game. |
