Default Pathfinder--Poor Man's 300 Or Stands On Own Legs?

Why does everybody have it down on Pathfinder? I'm not necessarily saying here, as I haven't got your opinions yet, but over at Blockbuster Online (where I rented it from) it's pulling TWO STARS.

I mean, c'mon, folks, it was made just to compete with 300 true, but it's still a pretty decent flick and original in its own right.

For those of you not in the know, the movie starts around 892 A.D. A Native American tribe in Canada discovers a wrecked Viking longboat with a sole survivor, a young teenage boy, holding a sword. He's raised as one of their own despite some grumbling from the elders, and named Ghost.

Then 15 years later, an army of awesome Viking warriors shows and slaughters Ghost's village while he's away hunting, unaware that one of their own lives there. Now it's time for Ghost to have his vengeance--thus proceeds an hour and a half of critical beatdown on the foolish Vikings as he attempts to prevent them from killing any more of his adopted people.

Pretty cool battle scenes, blood and gore, and a good climax on a narrow mountain path next to a gorge--well worth a watch. I think it excedes 300 in some ways, at least in the area of plot and acting.

So, anyway, has anyone else seen it? What did you think?

EDIT: Oh, I guess it is pulling three stars now? Apparently my vote helped pull it up; if so, more people need to see it! It's a pretty awesome flick.

Default

It's a fight-centered movie, but other than that I'm unsure as to any other 300 parallels...

I went into the theater excited and came out really disappointed. It was one two-hour fight scene with, sorry, an absolutely one-dimensional plot, and little-to-no effort in the storytelling. Heavy-handed and overwrought. I fell asleep at one point (fighting in the caves I think). When I woke up like 10 minutes later they were still at it; I hadn't missed anything.

The best thing I can say for it is that the (CG enhanced) scenery is beautiful. It's the real star of this movie, I thought.

I might rent the DVD if there's any decent making-of stuff, though.
