Blizzard Forsakes Subtlety - Thousands of AFK'ers Find Themselves Naked
In a new attempt to stop those who AFK in Battlegrounds for free honor, Blizzard is now resorting to taking action against guilty parties...
...and retroactively stripping past offenders of their gear. I find this course of action to be... quite damn awesome actually. Yet another reminder of just how awesome Blizzard can be. XD

They're paying money to play the game, then earning honor points by association so they can get free equipment without putting in any specific effort. |

But isn't that just not playing the game? I mean like the patterns in pacman. You get a computer version and then program it so pacman would automatically follow those patterns. Yay! I won!

Well, it's apparently rather easy (or so it seems) to idle there when you go to eat, run to the store, or sleep. Something away from the computer. So, it's getting the most out of a game you're paying monthly for while you're not even playing it! Duh.

And when people did that it ruins the fun of the game for the people who are actually playing at that moment. When I quit and well before it the amount of people AFK in the battlegrounds, specifically Alterac Valley was REALLY bad. Sometimes more than half the people on either team would be afk. And when you want to play to have fun, its not fun when half your team isn't there and you get stomped, and its not fun when half the enemy isn't there and you effortlessly crush them.
Good job Blizzard. You finally did something about those people.

Does anyone else flashback to that one scene in Braveheart where Mel Gibson was like "Okay! Time to moon those pesky archers!"

I think a few people made some real good points--instead of punishing the AFKers (or rather, instead of JUST punishing the AFKers), why not make Battlegrounds more competitive? Take out 'consolation' honor for losing, and just give honor for heals, damage done, damage received, etc.
Then, 'cause you've made gaining honor harder, lower honor prices on current gear, and put some arena level gear as being a bit more expensive than the current BG gear. Bam. Problem solved. Don't even have to do any heavy recoding.
