Eschaton Trials - Post-Apocalyptic Superhero RP - Sign Up
BZZT ”Oh, so that’s on then. Yes, ahem, to anyone watching this video, this is Professor Domotic. If this messenger bot has reached the Babel Tower my dead man’s switch has triggered and I am…well, dead, and have been for the past week. I have to fear that foul play was involved somehow, which is rather unfortunate for me, but it also might mean that someone has infiltrated my Genius Loci, which could be rather unfortunate if they decide to abuse any of my collected devices. If one the Stalwarts could just stop on by and make sure everything is in order it would be very much appreciated.I suppose I should make this repeat, in case I died at an inconvenient time…” TZZB It’s been a week since the Incident and things aren’t getting any better. For some reason a wave of acute amnesia swept over the world, blacking out a period of no more than a few moments in the entire population. However, upon regaining consciousness those left discovered that the world had changed immensely in that period: The entire population of un-empowered were now dead, leaving only a comparatively small number remaining in the aftermath. If this wasn’t devastating enough, rumors have abounded that the Stalwarts of Security, the heroes that one would normally look to in this bleak situation, have devolved into insanity, although no one is sure if this is directly caused by the Incident or merely their natural reaction in the face of the new world. With the natural order of society shattered, some remaining have succumbed to the easy mistress of chaos, while others are attempting to fortify positions of power in a world they view for the taking. You are some of those that remain and are clearheaded, an increasingly rare breed in this new world. Before the Incident you were identified as an empowered individual, whether through bodily quirk, mysticism, personal will, gadgetry, or other extraordinary means. In an attempt to make sense of it all you ventured to the Babel Tower, meeting place for the Stalwarts. However, upon arriving you only find others as confused as you, an abandoned structure, and a messenger machine sent by the world’s preeminent intellect, Professor Domotic… Sign-Up Sheet Name and/or Name: Empowered Quality: Imagine you’re a C- or B-list hero in a typical comic universe, and keep your power inside that range. History: Mostly before the Incident and how you’ve coped since. Were you a bored vigilante, a Stalwart idealist, or maybe you attempted to lead a normal life before the option was taken away Appearance:

So, as an example, you could be a guy with some fighting training and a small amount of (maybe specialized) weaponry, but I would frown upon billionaire gadget extraordinaires. You can't be the world's most powerful [blank], but you could still be a practitioner of [blank]. Sorry if this isn't very clear, I was planning on trying to keep powers trimmed to a reasonable level as the sign ups progressed. Basically, try to follow your common sense and have fun, and don't be afraid to ask me if you have specific question about the limits of what you want your concept to do.

I'm game. Also I'm treating my power level like I'm an X-Men member, good but not complete without others to rely on. X-men always felt like B-heroes to me.
Name: Roe Harvanis Age? 26 Empowered Quality: Telekinesis - The levitation or manipulation of objects purely with the mind. Weight is a factor, like all muscles even the brain requires exercise to improve itself. Fortunately the mind is limitless in such potential, unfortunately it still must be trained. Roe is a technical master but she has another decade before she is to be acknowledged as one. Roe most commonly uses this power to lift herself or push herself further in leaps, jumps and other acrobatics. Prescience - The sixth sense all humanity has but cannot explain and nearly none can control. With the proper concentration one can sense all that surrounds them, the only flaw is that the farther away something is it becomes harder to sense. For example; the first 10 feet is clear as crystal, the next fifteen begin to blur, the final five is beyond incomprehensible and beyond that, nothing. Trained Martial Artist - Roe is nothing special here. Average human capability. History: Roe is a child of prophecy, destined to save the Sylias (an elite group of psychics, monks and in many cases psychic monks.) from a catastrophe that would sunder the entire group. She has been trained since birth, learning to react to both psychic and sensory information. The years have been trying and Roe has been under strict guard and supervision. Its only been recently since she attained the rank of Master Psionic (on a technicality) that she has begun to have some legitimate freedom for herself. The 'event' occurred during her Martial Arts training, she 'woke' to find her teacher dead. Seeking help she found that all un-empowered people had died. Returning to her home she discovered a rushed meeting of psychic's and psychic monk's (the regular monks being dead) deciding what was to be done. The catastrophe of prophecy is over a decade from now, but Roe decided then and there to find out what was going on. She left before the others could stop her, and before anyone could let her know that her father, Deckard, leader of the Sylias, had been meeting with the Stalwarts this day. Appearance: A tall beautiful dominating woman with dark black hair and a sparkling set of brown eyes. Roe is a muscular woman wrapped tightly in her yellow karategi, black slippers and with her hair pulled back she is ready for quick agile movements. In some poses she even appears quite fearsome. -Due to a coin toss, Roe is now a lady. Fun stuff-

Mime, that's telekenisis, not telepathy. Telepathy is reading minds.
I also thought of an X-Men power level hero, that is, 80s X-men, not the ridiculously overpowered 90s versions. Anyway. Name: Tommy Black Codename: Jungle Cat Empowered Quality: Black is basically a human with bestial qualities. He has keener senses than most people, and has retractable claws like most big cats do. He also has a small tail which gives a greatly improved sense of balance and grace, making him far more agile and quick than non-empowered humans are. He has some martial arts training, and is good at the styles he knows, but is by know means a master. He is also a very good motorcycle rider and skilled with a whip. History: Black was born and raised in Chicago, where he gained his empowered qualities in his teens. He pretty much ignored them, as he could keep them quiet and lead a normal life. He got a job as a reporter, and his constant exposure to criminals and crimefighters lead him to decide to become a crimefighter himself. He spent months designing a costume, learnings how to fight, and getting in shape. He eventually started his career, somewhat disastrously. He got better at it, though, and went on to build a good reputation, with a colorful rogue's gallery, though he was never as famous as the Anuran. Using money he gained from turning in criminals, Black had a secret basement built under his house, with a well-stocked gym, a tunnel which led to an exit a few miles away, and a red motorcycle with the face of a black panther on the front, which some reporters had wittily nicknamed the "Catcycle." He also trained himself in the use of a thin red whip, which has become his trademark. He uses it to get around the city and to fight with. Appearance: He stands around 5'10 and is very sleek, but in good shape, with decent sized muscles. He has disheveled short red hair and no facial hair. There are slight fangs amongst his teeth. When adventuring, he wears a tight red suit that favors mobility over protection, as his agility and senses usually help him avoid danger. He has a small tail that his suit accommodates for. He keeps it hidden when in civilian clothes. He wears a red domino mask on his face. The background will come later tonight when I have time to think of a good one. My costume design is based on the assumption that we are doing this kinda old school, and that domino masks, which do a good job keeping an identity secret IRL, do the job just fine.

B-powered super heroes and post apocalyptic, It must be my birthday.
I'm so torn, I have so many B grade super heroes in my arsenal, and I love them all... Note: Inhuman is greater than normal but less than super. Super man/ the Hulk are super strong, Spider man/ Colossus are Inhumanly strong. At least I think thats right Name and/or Name: Kurt Riess AKA Crash Empowered Quality: Personal gravity alteration - Kurt is capable of altering the effect of gravity on his body. He can make himself weightless and leap over tall buildings in a single bound. Or make his body so heavy he becomes unmovable. Inhuman Durabilty - In order to compensate for his unusual ability his body structure has become stronger and more durable than a normal humans. Strong enough to keep his heavy muscles from crushing his bones for example. He can for example be thrown through concrete walls and survive, but being hit with a girder would probably knock him out for a bit. Inhuman Strength - Kurt has spent years slowly increasing his average body weight in order to build his muscles by doing average activities, as well as during workouts. That combined with his incredible durability has allowed his muscles to become Inhumanly powerful. As well as sexily toned. History: Kurt first discovered his powers on his 18th birthday. He was going skydiving with his friends and unfortunately received a faulty parachute. When it failed to open he began panicking, and praying for someone to save him. Praying to be able to fly or that a super hero do gooder would rescue him. Slowly he began to realize that the earth wasn't coming up at him as quickly as it had. As the earth began to approach slower and slower he began to panic less and less. He touched down like a feather, feeling as light as the air around him. Then suddenly his gravity returned to normal, nearly crumpling his body to the ground in surprise. Kurt has spent the last 8 years training his power and his body. He does good where he can but mostly just works as a model. Well that was, until the world went to hell. Now he is trying to survive, make friends where he can, and figure out what is going on in this super world gone mad. Appearance: Age - 26 Height - 6'5" Weight - Optional Kurt has black short cropped hair and brown eyes. His body isn't bulky like most strong heroes, it is incredibly toned due to how he built his muscles up, making him deceptively powerful. He dresses in tight fitting jeans and shirts, with a leather trench coat over it. His clothes are often torn due to his favorite form of attack. Leaping high into the air and coming down at his opponent with his increased weight.

Y'know I had just corrected myself ten minutes earlier in my mind when I thought of what power I wanted too... Sigh.
Thanks MJ. Oh and if you think the X-Men are overpowered in the 90's read the OO stuff. Everyone gets regeneration. EVERYONE.

Name and/or Name: John Jefferson "Flow"
History: John Jefferson grew up in a rich neighborhood in the suburbs. He went to a private school where he got slightly above average grades and took up fencing as an extra-curricular activity. He was a very good fencer. He noticed, be it kitchen knives or swords, that blades never seemed to dull when he used them. To the contrary, they got even sharper it seemed. One day John was walking along, headphones in his ears with music up loud to drown out the noise of the city he lived in during his adult years. So he didn't hear anyone shouting for him to move when an out-of-control car came speeding down the road, right at him. He noticed it at the last second, closing his eyes and throwing himself on the ground, arms over his head. He heard a loud crash and felt glass sprinkle over his neck. He opened his eyes, expecting to see the pearly gates. But instead he saw a hole had formed in the asphalt in front of him, the crashed car sitting in it, the hood crumpled and the windshield smashed. He trained his powers, practicing his swordfighting more and pledging to use them for good. Appearance: Wears a domino mask and trenchcoat while fighting crime (or used to, at least), but under it is fairly normal. Short brown hair, 5'11 tall, and of an average build. Carries knives of different varieties inside his trench coat, as well as a pair of longswords at his waist. Powers: Matter manipulation: He can manipulate natural materials (and basically natural materials like steel and asphalt) on the molecular level, making them into new shapes, changing their properties, (sharpness, density) or new locations by moving them on the molecular level (The materials appear to flow like liquid when he moves it, giving him his name.) He must be touching at least part of the thing to be changed in order to manipulate it. This ability is most often manifested as creating spikes of Earth (or more often brick and asphalt, given his urban setting), holes in anything from steel walls to asphalt, and forming weaponry out of debris. Physical Abilities: John is fairly weak physically, since he never really needs to lift anything. He is dextrous and fast, however, and an accomplished swordfighter. I'll leave the amount of material that he can manipulate up to you, but he can't do highly processed things like glass or drywall, or complicated/living things like flesh, living or dead. And I imagine it would take a while for large things. Like he can't make a big hole in the asphalt instantly. The material has to flow over itself visibly, so its not instant. Let's say he can't manipulate something more than five or ten feet away even if he is touching it. (For example, he can't make earth spikes pop out of the ground wherever he wants just by touching the ground. And its line of sight even within the range, obviously.) And out of curiosity, could someone make a robot character? |

With that out of the way, the Incident had only two effects: (1) Every un-empowered individual was left dead and (2) The So, all that out of the way, AB's power is approved, and you're good to go TDK.
