Megaman isn't very good with computers, and now he needs help with a video card
Well, after the dreaded Recycler virus got on my computer, I managed to wipe it out with an antivirus but it still left some things borked. I had tried to reinstall windows and reinstall Internet Explorer, but still my browsers wouldn't work. In the end, I just had to reformat.
In the meantime, I need to get a lot of my old non-default drivers and things back. This computer is old as sin, and so I've had to put a lot of toys in it so that it can keep up with my crazy WoW addicted self. Among these is a video card. The default video card is all it can use for now, so everything looks all blocky and ugly. Where in the computer software can I peek around to find the model etc of the new video card I put in it so that I can find the driver for it on the innertubes? |

Well, the first big question is what is your video card. Nvidia, ATI, on board, or another? That will make it all the easier to help your situation.
I'm going to assume that you have a Nvidia or ATI at the moment. Each of their drivers can be found on each of there respective websites. Just search the drivers portion of their website. Also, if the card came with a CD, good drivers should be on it. Maybe not the most current, but good none the less. On board video, on the other hand, can be found on the computer makers website. It will be harder to track down, unless you have a 10 year old computer, but still very possible. Google is still your best friend. However if you have onboard, which I do doubt, I'm going to make the obvious suggestion to get a Nvidia. You can get a 8400 GS for $60 US. And it works well. If you have a completely different kind of video card, and I honestly I cannot think of one, all I can point you to is Google. It should help out more than I can. Sorry to hear that your computer borked out on you. Good luck on getting your things back.

All video cards I've used have had thier details written on them. I would just open up the case and have a look.

Open your device manager. The information should be there.
