Dr. Who (part Too)
Okay, so I know I'm about to revoke virtually all of my nerd liscence and that of my children and grandchildren, but I must confess: I've never seen Dr. Who. Partially it's been the fact that I don't watch much television, partially because I was never really interested - I never saw much from what little exposure I had to grab me.
That said, I've recognized it's larger impact on nerd-dom over the years, and have every once in a while read things about it, so I'm familiar with a few of the most general and unspecific of basics: Dr. Who is a doctor of some kind (I don't know if it's medical or not) who travels through time and space (like Buckaroo Banzai!) meeting aliens and Anyhoo , recently, it's been interesting to note a (minor) burst of Who-related references in several things I frequent, including unrelated posts within this forum from several different discussions. All of that long introduction, to bring you this and this. Also, here's a Dr. Who thread, in case anyone wants to discuss stuff about it or post other links to recent Who-related stuff. I dunno? Note: I actually ran into it several more places recently, but I can't find 'em. EDIT: Thanks, Smarty. Eheheh, somehow I missed it after a scan of the Media Consumption forum. My bad. Also, interesting.

We have our very own Doctor Who thread like 6 threads down from this one. A lot of it is bitching about the new season though. Also the actor chaning is very much explained in continuity, one of few shoes that does. Every time he "dies" he regenerates into a new form. This is because he is an alien- a time lord. In theory they can only do this 13 times in their life span before dying for good but certain other time lords have got round it. Also the whole universe revolves around London. |

Yeah what SMB said. Also FYI his name is not Dr. Who. It's just "The Doctor", a title he chose at some point long ago. His real name is hidden.
