Street Fighter vs Tekken. No, really.
Yes, that's not a joke. Namco and Capcom are indeed pitting Tekken and Street Fighter characters together, announced about 10 minutes ago. Ono is having a conference at Comic Con right now where he announced this and Street Fighter Third Strike: Online Edition. Both these games will be hitting PS3 and 360 eventually. Also, Namco are developing their own version called Tekken vs Street Fighter.
I though this was weird enough to make a thread of it, yes. A liveblog is here. edit: And pics! Last edited by mudah.swf; 07-24-2010 at 02:54 PM. |

Hm, interesting. I like Tekken, I've always been a fan. I haven't really played much of Street Fighter, but from what I hear 4 was pretty good, but the again, as individual games they might be fine, and yet together they might suck. So, I'd be interested in the game, but it does have the potential to be lacking in quality.

Meh, I'd be more interested if they announced a new Soul game, ya know, something as pretty as Soulcalibur 4 but with customization form Soulcalibur 3.

Tekken and Street Fighter are not that far apart, but they are still not on the same league... sure, both breath combo and reversals in a tournament setting, but if i can have Ryu in one corner shoving Hadoukens on Eddy Gordo, i don't think that could be a fair fight...

If it's a 3D fighter Eddy can just sidestep that and juggle him to death. SF and Tekken are nothing like each other in terms of sheer gameplay so I wonder how Namco's version will make it work.

Yeah, the big question mark hanging over my head is made out of the word "projectiles." I don't recall Tekken having many (Angel/Devil's eye beams aside), where Street Fighter's basically defined by the things.

Tag ultras and tag partners are in, there's a lot of c/ping from SF4 but I bet that's al placeholder atm. |

Looks more Street Fighter than Tekken, but it looks like fun.

It's the Capcom version. The Namco version will undoubtedly be more like Tekken. Here are some more screenshots.
Personally I hope they make changes from the SSFIV engine, since I'd rather not have this be literally SSF4 with Tekken characters. |

Since they specifically stated we'd be waiting for the game, it's probably not coming out till 2012. It was labeled Build 0, so it's likely just something they threw together with SFIV engine to show at Comic-Con.
I'm curious if it's a straight tag fight, or if the other character it's just for assists/supers. And on Namco's side, how they will handle fireballs.
