Any Good Video Game Music Suggestions?
Okay so after listening to the epicness that is Lufia 2 - The Last Duel, I've been somewhat hooked on bringing out my inner nerd and finding new, good video game music. Only thing is that I'm somewhat new to this. Anyone have some good suggestions? Oh and I hope I have this thread in the right section haha. And links to specific tracks are always good too =)

My favorite video game music cover band has been the NESkimos, who have done quite a few covers and they're (almost) all available for free on their Soundclick page. Their rendition of Grape Garden from Kirby's Adventure for example is pretty awesome, or Snake Man from Mega Man 3.
There is also Powerglove but their library is much smaller and they're not free. Also those are both bands that use heavy metal (for the most part) to do the covers, so what you like music-wise may be different. If you mean "what specific songs from what specific games are awesome?", though, I'd say that's partially up to what games you like, since it's hard to say "this song is awesome" when you can't make the connection with whatever situation it was played in in whatever specific game. Like Glenn's Theme from CT is cool and all but it's even cooler if you've actually seen Glenn split a wall with a magic sword or whatever. |

The theme from Super Mario Land is my favorite of the Mario music. I'm convinced that it was the inspiration behind the 'Woody's Roundup' song from Toy Story 2.

Guilty Gear's got some awesome rock/metal music, also I suggest "Emperor: Battle of Dune" as well.

Last Duel is your song of choice from Lufia 2? Personally, my favorite is probably "Maxim/For the Savior" or the Sinistral boss music.
Anywho, as for games that have good music, without needing the emotional attachment of the game's events (It helps for certain game soundtracks, like most of the Suikoden series (Though this is pretty awesome)), I'd say Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross have pretty steller soundtracks. Here are some of my favorites. |

Guild Wars soundtracks are full of awesome.
I've also been very impressed with Shadow Hearts: Covenants' music.
