A pair of two-year terms on Skellytown's city council were up for grabs Saturday.

One of those spots is now being filled by a man who is a former mayor forced to resign, and a registered sex offender.

We first told you about Warren "Red" Mills in March, when he threw his hat into the race, and NewsChannel 10 received calls from concerned citizens given his history, a history that includes jail time for sexual contact without consent, and probation for allegations of sexual contact with two minors.

Mills was also forced to resign from his position as mayor when residents got wind of his past.

But in this election, "Red" Mills came out on top, receiving the most votes to become one of the newest city council members.

We spoke with several people in Skellytown today.

Some are upset with the results, others say they supported him to victory.

Mills and the other newly-elected council member, Ashley Taylor, will be sworn in at the city council meeting on May 22nd, where the floor will be open to public comment.

Yeah...I truly am left speechless by this for jokes. Take it NPF!

Well the other guy was an incumbent and if there's anything worse than statutory rape it's incumbency.

Has any major politician, such as a senator or representative of the past century ever voluntarily not accepted their salary? I honestly wonder. They all turn into millionaires pretty quickly even without adding in the 200,000 dollars they get paid every year. And they all bitch that politicians are paid too much (while simultaneously voting for pay raises...)

I'm not really seeing the point of the title since he is both a career politician and a registered sex offender. He's also probably the only career politician there since the town only has 600 or so people in it and a majority of the town's voters (which if you figure follows the usual average of about 10-20%, so maybe a hundredish?) decided that his track record as mayor qualified him enough for a city council seat.

Like, the only thing you can say about it is, "Welp, that's a small town in Texas for you."

Also, hey Robin, the news subforum ain't about stupid joke threads. Don't make threads intended for people to come in and make stupid jokes in this subforum.

Also also, hey Robin, a lot of people get their jimmies rustled by making light of the horrible crimes of sex offenders for very understandable and legitimate reasons, and lord knows I do not want to have to deal with that mess, so do me a favor and do a better job with picking your audience with your stupid joke threads in the future, okay?
