New TV Show by the Makers of Shrek
Yeah.
So, anyway, for whatever alien-possessed reason, I was reading through a copy of People Magazine. I was looking through it and found something interesting. I found this little article that was about, maybe, half a page or so. It described a show set up for the Fall '04 line up on NBC. Anyway, the show will be called "Father of the Pride", and will be about a family of white lions who work on the Sigfried and Roy show. There will be two children (whose names are unknown but will aparently be a boy and a girl), a mother (named Kate), a father (named Larry), and Kate's father who hates Larry (named Sarmoti). It will be CGI animated as well. Supposedly it's going to cost between 2 and 2.5 million buckaroonies to make each episode, and according to People Magazine, it takes 9 months to make each episode. That last one, I doubt. I'm thinking that if that's so, then we'll have something along the lines of this when it debutes; people will watch and say "That's a good show" and hear that the next episode will be out in Summer '05, and then turn off their TVs. Based on the articles I read it sound like it will be rather good. They described one episode where Kate finds drugs (catnip) in her daughter's room and confronts her. Her daughter wittily retorts with "Maybe it's Sigfried and Roy's. It would explain their costumes." So it sounds like it will have all of Shrek's good humor and taste. But, ah, what do you think? I'm hoping it'll be good, but I'm sadly not holding my breath. It'll take a lot of views to pay for $2.5 million dollars per episode. Last edited by Cyclone231; 06-03-2004 at 10:46 AM. |

Uh....ok. I just hope it doesn't have the same art style of Shrek. I really gotta say but its one of the few things that looks downright ugly to me and I can't bear it.

Of course, you know their going to use that whole Shrek thing to advertise the hell out of this show when it comes out. "From the makers of Shrek, comes something completely unlike Shrek! Please watch it, for we want to keep our jobs... on NBC this summer!"

Actually, each Family Guy took 9 months to make, and Simspons cost about 2 mil to make an episode, so those figures aren't 'outrageous'. (And people wouldn't be forced to wait 9 months, they do this thing called working in advance, to keep it at a weekly show...)
I'll watch the first one, I awlays watch the pilot of a sitcom, its how I found Scrubs and My Wife and Kids while avoiding According to Jim. |

So we are clear

I think they said that the simpsons (maybe family guy) that it takes 2 or 3 months to make, but they work on about 10 episodes at once

On Family Guys commentary they said it takes 9 months to write the story, get the voices, and draw it.
I believe Simpsons takes shorter because they just write the story, do the voices, then ship it off to Korea where a sweat shop of little Korean animators draws it under the cracking of a whip (although I read it still takes around 5-6 months). |
