Thor - The Dark World
Ok... i'm also hyped for THAT now. Man, 2013 is shapeing up to be so nerdy... and soooo good for movies. This really feels like the stakes have been raised from the first movie and that it does indeed follows from Avengers into Thor 2. Which is great... the fact that a lot of the action of the movie actually takes places in Thor's world is also fantastic, cause it allows for that size of a conflict to exist without it banging head to head with Iron Man 3 in the map... Also, you get to the end of the trailer and you see Thor teaming up with Tommy Wiseau! totally did no see that coming... |

Archer and Armstrong vs. the World

I'm surprised they did the dark elves and yet appear to have absolutely nothing involving the Cask of Ancient Winters. Instead the dark elves seem to inhabit a giant black space pillar that slams into things.
I tend to watch all of these so that's already set. |

I like that it's flipping the perspective from the first film and bringing Jane into his world, which will be interesting in its own way. I think the real test for Thor here though is whether it can meet the same standard without Loki as a villain. I'm sure Christopher Eccleston and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje will do grand jobs but a lot of what made Thor enjoyable was Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston. While I'm aware Hiddleston will be in the film, if he's not the villian then they won't be playing off each other in quite the same way. So I'm intrigued to see how that works out.

Err, is it just me or is there a trailer at the end of that trailer?
Also, is it wrong to be proud that I recognized Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje's name without even trying? I read BloodyMage's post and was all "Whoa Adebisi lives again!" Wanna watch it, wanna watch it, wanna watch it. . .October 31? Bluh.

I dunno, Tom and Chris have such good Chemistry, they nailed Thor and Loki down to a key so nicely that having them as unlikely partners is something i really want to see. It plays out from Thor's still seeing him as his brother, trying to save him. And Loki always being a deceitful presence. He is a villain, but he doesn't always feel like one...
The fact that he barely shows up in the trailer at all makes me wonder how much of a role does he actually play... Actually, be prepared for the potential twist of Loki's final redemption being that he dies to save the girl Thor loves... |

I notice the wiki entry on this mentions "an enemy older than the universe itself." What do we reckon, Surtur? Dormamu? I know Dormamu is more a Doctor Strange thing but they're apparantly planning a movie for him so this might be set up for introducing the more mystical side of things.
Or I could be reading too much into it, who knows?

Surtur fits the bill, and would work well in a movie probably. Picture a guy about 25 meters tall on fire with a "twilight sword" that can cut down light itself.
(I may not remember the sagas very well. Or the comics.)
