NPF Steam Secret Santa 2013
I wanted to think of a funny subtitle, but i failed...
So, this worked... but it was a bit rushed so we never did manage to organize. Steam sale is coming up, most likely on Nov 27, might be a good date, so let's have a thread for it now. And please someone take over this thread from me, i just have no clue on how to properly organize this stuff right... So, here is what we need. keepig with the model used on 2012, 3 suggestions of gifts (as specific as "Game X" to broad as "Any DLC for any game i have" stuff like that) Say if you want in, and what is the gift price range you are comfortable with. Also say your steam handle. Games are steam primarily (just to streamline everything), but i see no problem in talking about other systems as well. Suggested date for purchases is the entire duration of the steam sale, with gifts being sent the day after it ends, so everybody gets full access to all deals equally and there is an agreed date for delivery of the gifts. Now, on feedback... even though we all will be connected via steam, we should talk about the secret santa primarily on the forums, no? So, what you guys feel is the best? People just openly say who their secret santa is? Give clues and the others try to figure it out? Keep it a secret? C'mon people, let's get the holiday spirit of savings i gaming going! |

What if we just set up a general price range for everyone rather than have people keep track of each person's individual price range? That way no one has to worry about whether they're asking for too much or too little.
What about $15 and under, or $20 and under? I don't remember how, if at all, we worked this for various countries' differences in currency. EDIT: Oh, also, everyone should post the operating system/etc of the computers they game on so they don't end up with a game they can't run.

Oh sorry, i didn't explain it. I was thinking of running the average of everyone's price point. Last year we agreed at around $15 was best but that people could go higher if they wanted to. IIRC

I'm in. $15 sounds like a reasonable cap, especially with sales around the corner.

I stuck to the Steams last year, but people shouldn't be limited to that. There's Humble codes and downloads, GOG etc. as well as all those things that aren't games, which I believe we did last year? But the games are much better for international borders.
In terms of sales there's obviously the Black Friday stuff from around the corner, as well as Steam's Christmas sale through the period and past the big day, as well as all the other stuff other sites will do (GreenManGaming, so many better sales than Steam this year, as a hint). I think just generally saying a large time period up until year's end would be best. Then after the new year we reveal what we gave & to who, and who gave you your thingy. I myself messed with an alternate account to gift, but people may not accept unsolicited friend invites so I say just stick to main account and do away with subtleties on the personal front. Just gets awkward otherwise. Count me in anyway.

Aw what the heck, I'm in. I'll go with $15 but I'm getting steam games in Brazilian money which, while worth less than USD has lower prices so there's that.
I accept gifts in PC games, vita games and PSN codes. |

Yeah, I'll get in on this again. Money, I'll go with whatever you guys go with, I'm not too fussy, and I have to work in £ instead of $ anyway, which requires math I'm not prepared to do or look up.
PC games, Steam stuff... Steam's probably best for me just so some weird region blocks can't crop up - They totally will if you give them the chance.

So we are clear

is there a way to check what games people have? I'd rather do kind of a blind pick, encourage the spread of games we otherwise might not have tried
