"The BBC Can Fruit Check My Skills Assessment" or "Seil Doesn't Care For Doctor Who"
Perhaps Seil should clarify; go ahead, Seil.
Thank you, Nega-Seil. It's so good that we had this opportunity to catch up. You know what I've been doing lately? My Health Care Assistant course. I care for Health Care. Or at least assist in that regard. That being said, I've recently failed my third and final skills check because I stood a client up (by lifting a client using a transfer belt) without shoes - which is a big no-no, safety risk immediate fail. I was nervous. I made a mistake, (that I feel stupid for because I was totally aware of the issue, nerves just got the better of me) I have the chance to re-take the skills check and prove that I'm a competent person who health cares good. (I know COPD, CHF, CVA - All of the C's.) I'm going to do better in the future by practicing in the interim Criticism is just that - several points of advice and... criticisms that will help me to do better on the road to health care. That being said I think it totally stinks that I failed and I want to have a drink or six tonight. A Dark and Stormy is ginger beer and a measure of whiskey. So here's the thing - my thing. Skills check takes a day and a half, 'cause we've got over twenty-five students what with the time in the lab to actually check their skills and whatnot. So I bought the seventh season of Doctor Who, the third season of Sherlock, the third season of Game Of Thrones and The Day Of The Doctor. All of which I bought over time in anticipation of my long weekend. (I get Friday off as well.) And jeepers creepers, oh my goodness. Matt Smith. Matthew Smith. The actor. What happened to the writing?! Suddenly, Nefertiti! Suddenly, dinosaurs! Suddenly, Rory's Dad! Suddenly, in space! Suddenly, sweet ending! What's going on? I'm doing my rounds - I'm a student, I have an excuse - I'm doing all of these. Sherlock, Doctor Who and Game of Thrones. Weigh in (WITHOUT SPOILERS WITHOUT SPOILERS PLEASE CUPPA THEN, THANKS) And relieve the disappointing Sherlock-somehow-Matt-Smith's-fault with me. (Note that acting is okay, it's just that last season that and The Silence and River and over-arcing plots and I've only gotten to The Old West and it's ALL WRITTEN OUT IN EVERY DIALOGUE BIT AND WE ARE SO SIMILAR AND WAR AND DALEK REFERENCE AND OH MY GOODNESS IT'S DIFFERENT BECAUSE OLD WEST AND BRITISH PEOPLE DID YOU SEE THE DINOSAURS LAST EPISODE?!" ---------- Post added at 01:51 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:50 AM ---------- As per the thread title, I was reassuring a fri.... you know what? Fudge it. Title stays. Title is rad as balls. I can pee my name in the snow. And at Wal Mart. They don't let me in Wal Mart much anymore. |

Which is really tragic because my fiance loves Clara as a character, but is generally sickened with how Moffat writes stories about her.

Nyeh-rah-ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
---------- Post added at 11:28 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:24 AM ---------- I like Clara. Clara is pretty nifty. Terrible writing by Doctor Who standards. The Angels Take Manhattan was particularly awful. The Abominable Snowmen set up a villain more poorly than Bad Wolf or The Silence, and their big moments "The Doctor's Name" and "The Impossible Girl" arc ended incredibly poorly and were resolved in about five minutes. The only thing of note in the entire season had to do with Paul McGann and William Hurt. |

Anyway yeah, Moffat has pretty much proven that he just can't handle his position at all. What's worse is that he's just progressively written more and more of his stuff into the Doctor's backstory like he's trying to make the entire Doctor Who mythology his personal creative property. Like I think Moffat is actually trying to own the Doctor in just the most horrifying, perverted way. God Seil, if you haven't gotten that far yet, please don't watch Day of the Doctor and Time of the Doctor. It's too late to save you from River Song, but I would I would save you from those two at least. I know, I know John Hurt is there and you think it will be worth it but it's not. It's not, Seil. That's what I thought, and it's just not. If you haven't done it to yourself yet, just don't.

Just saw The Time Of The Doctor. I was expecting it to be more than a Christmas special.
I was also expecting it to be - what with the last Smith episode and the first look at Capaldi... well, better. |

Spoilers for Day: Space marines. With laser guns. I was going to say space marines with laser beams, but that sounds like a Bowie song, and this episode doesn't deserve that. Everything we've heard about the Time War, all the allusions to these things which are horrifying beyond anything the rest of the universe could even comprehend, so horrifying that they broke the fucking Doctor and when you finally get down to depicting it, you give us fucking guys in fucking power armour shooting at fucking normal Daleks with fucking laser guns. Fucking 'Nam was scarier than this. Where's the Nightmare Child? The Horde of Travesties? The Could-Have-Been-King with his army of Meanwhiles and Never-Weres? And if those guys are all already dead, where's the scars left on the foundation of reality itself by the passage of these no-doubt Lovecraftian horrors? Fucking Moffat.
God, and he got down to fucking what looked like it might be a fucking decent fucking fuck fuck fucjkpwijgouwni *breathes* decent bit of character development by having the Doctors come to terms with their actions in the Time War and accept John Hurt as one of them, AND THEN THEY UNWROTE IT ALL. LOLNOPE, TURNS OUT THE TIME LORDS WERE SAVED ALL THIS TIME AND ALL THE PATHOS AND DARKNESS AND CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT FOR THE LAST FUCKING EIGHT YEARS HAVE BEEN COMPLETELY FUCKING MEANINGLESS. ---------- Post added at 12:02 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:02 PM ----------

But really, regardless of whatever issues there are, I can't see how you could possibly suggest that any of them are as outright awful as Moffat's crap has been. Curse of Fenric is probably the worst McCoy serial, IMO, and it's still not doing shit like marrying the Doctor to one Mary Sue while sticking another Mary Sue's face (and I hate that Clara ended up as something like this because she was pretty good coming out of the gate) on everything in the entire history of Doctor Who for the sake of making the whole mythology orbit Moffat's ego. The Seventh Doctor's run is, at its worst, probably around par with some of the not-so-great RTD stuff. Speaking of which, was watching some RTD stuff earlier today, and I feel that RTD's era was able to create a sense of wonder in the universe that old Who didn't do so well (mainly due to the shoestring budget). Like the old series could never really deliver on the whole "people made of smoke and cities made of song" business, but RTD's era really did make me feel like anything could be out there in the grand wondrous universe. Moffat has somehow managed to utterly grind that feeling into dust. I didn't realise I'd lost it until I rewatched RTD's stuff.
