The Moon
Tonight, like many nights, I am depressed, and when I am depressed I truly feel my musical calling...
But tonight I noticed something else, the moon... Has anyone ever stopped to gaze upon it, and truly wonder at what it is... From a technical perspective, its a rock that reflects sunlight, but what about emotionally Wolves feel the call of the moon and howl to it as if it were a guide, but when I look at it I do not feel its call, instead I feel its loneliness.. how sad is it to be all alone in space with no task except to create the illusion of light at nighttime, how can something so beautiful make me want to weep... Has anyone else gazed at it, and truly felt the sadness that comes with the moon? People symbolize the moon with love, but I do not feel that from the moon, love is happiness and togetherness, but what togetherness is there with the moon? To me... the moon is the one piece of the universe that I can relate to, I know the sense of being alone, I know that I am only wanted when i serve my purpose for others, and am nothing but a shadow the rest of the time... useless except to promote others... What does the moon symbolize to all of you?

thanks alot
Well now you've gone and made me depressed, which isn't a good thing, because I'm drnk and bipolar.....not a good combination for a depressed person. Anyway, you asked what togetherness is there with the moon. Simple, it's togetherness is with the Earth. We exist in a harmony that cannot exist without the moon. It's tidal influence sustains us.
I better quit posting now, since I can't seem to spell very well at the moment. |

The moon does have a depression factor, but for some reason, I've never viewed it that way. I adore the nitetime, it's my favorite time of day. I love walking outside at nite, and just relishing in the beauty of it. There are times when staring at the moon can make me sad, but generally, it brings me comfort. It's like a good rainstorm. I adore running outside in the rain, especially when it's just that mixture of warmness with no humidity, but anyway, that's offtopic.
I think when you are alone with no task but to relish in the beauty of the moon, that is when you truly find yourself. You can take the time to step out of yourself and view yourself in a different light. I've never really associated the moon with love, unless I was with a person that I loved and was feeling the love from them. I have almost always associated it with calmness, almost a everything is right in the world feeling. It sooths me. Plus, at nite, when the moon is full. There's not as many annoying people around, heh. |

I love the moon, the stars, the night sky... I even named a star after a special someone (Not officially mind you, but I talk to that star when we are apart).
As for the moon being lonely, I'm sure that it can at times feel as if it is alone in the darkness and emptiness of space, but look around it. It is surrounded by millions of tiny stars. While I'm sure that the apparent size is just the distance away, it is as if the moon is the mother of the sky, with millions of tiny children flocking around. As the night continues, the moon travels the sky, visiting with all of her family. Alone? I think the moon couldn't be less alone. As an aside, I agree that the moon is coupled with the Earth. Looking from the Earth it appears alone, but looking from outside it is easy to tell that it is closely tied to the Earth. Sometimes we too need to do that, try to look at our lives from outside. Sure it may seem as if we are alone now, but if you actually try to look from outside, you will find that there are people there that love and care for you. I know that sometimes I need to do that, and at times it is really hard, but it helps alot.

The moon is cool, but I like the stars more, and they disappear during a full moon. Too bad we can't have both. I'm particularly partial to Orion... Brightest stars in the sky; The Hunter, The Ranger of the Heavens, The Warrior; all titles shared by the archangel Michael. Fun and more fun.

I like to think of being with those that may be looking at the moon while I am lonely or deppressed. It makes me feel better that its there for those that enjoy it.
I dont think I would want to go to the moon because it would take away from its meaning to me.

It's a dead ball of dust and rock that's stuck in orbit 240,000 miles above the earth. To me, it symbolizes exactly that.

Anyway, after reading this thread and replying to it before. I decided to go out and look at the moon. It was cold out, and looking up, I could barely see it. It made me start thinking about so many aspects of my life. To me, the moon has that effect on me. It gets my mind going, and helps me be able to sort through my thoughts. As I said before, I associate it with calmness. It gives me the opportunity to figure out my feelings about situations. Some of my best ideas have come from staring at the sky at nite. |

Not that there's anything wrong with that. I happen to think The Moon is a majestic flying ball of rock that happens to reflect light beautifully.
